Ah yes, I was fortunate enough to catch the trailer in the cinema at the weekend, and... well, I'm very excited.
@Tammy oh, you know you love it.

I'm a bit dissapointed they didn't show a glimse of Her. But I'm sure they would have the guts to skipp that episode....
BTW what's the name of the monster in the cave just at the edge of mordor.... I know her name is "Honmonstret" in swedish but in Eng? Directtrasnlation would be "the female/she monster" but I doubt that's the original name

Time to download it and check...
Her name is Shelob.

That part of the book (actually the Two Towers novel) is definately in there. Quote: Originally posted by garazdawi BTW what's the name of the monster in the cave just at the edge of mordor.... The name means 'She-spider' ('lob' is an old English word for 'spider').

Anyone else intrigued by the ad about cinematic screenings of the extended editions back-to-back just before RotK is released? Hope they're doing a show in this country...

| | I don't remember Samwise being covered with webs in the trailer, just Frodo. Also, at one point you see Frodo looking up at Galadriel but he's covered with webs. *Spoiler/speculation* Presumably this a from vision/hallucination he has after he's been bitten.

Well, it could have been Frodo, these hobbits all look the same... I'm not talking about the part where he's on the ground though, I thought you see Sam alone, covered in webs... which would make sense plotwise.
And I agree - there's really no other way that part could have been worked in.
So... how does anyone think they're going to end it? Will they put in the return to the Shire? What other changes might they have made? Make your speculations here!
Edit: I just checked, and it is the first hobbit you see in the trailer - you only see him from the back, but you can tell it's Sam from the colour of his hair. This is getting sad now.
Curious that Denethor isn't seen in the trailer at all.

Sam is never shown with webs on him. Quote: Originally posted by Georgi So... how does anyone think they're going to end it? Will they put in the return to the Shire? Sean Astin revealed a while back that the last scene is (supposedly) him in the Shire with Rosie and his daughter (played by Astin's real life daughter). He was already in the RotK trailer that came with the TTT DVD. He's also going to be in the extended edition of TTT as well.

I don't think they will show the return to the shire.... i thikn I heard someone say that they cut that part sout as the movie was long enough without adding that part of the book.... I'm really going to miss seing Frodo kick sauruman's @ss
oh maybe I should have put that as a spoiler..... oh well...what's done is done

I mean, a lot could have been changed between the end of TTT and that scene. Even in the FotR extended edition, they didn't have the part where Galadriel gives Sam that seed...
What about Gandalf taking Pippin to Mordor? The mechanics of that can't work the same way, because Gandalf already knows about the palantir and how Saruman was using it, that was covered in FotR.

@garazdawi I reckon they've probably cut down the ending quite a bit, although how exactly they will have changed it, I'm not sure. They could have Saruman dealt with at Isengard, and then the hobbits could just go home in peace at the end.
Oh, anyone else think the scale of the battle at Minas Tirith looks pretty awesome?

oh maybe I should have put that as a spoiler..... oh well...what's done is done | We've known since forever that the Scouring of the Shire was out. But that doesn't mean they won't show our hobbits back home again. Quote: Originally posted by Georgi I disagree... plus you wouldn't see Frodo walking alone straight after Shelob's attack, would you? | According to theonering.net's frame by frame analysis it's Frodo there. Quote: Originally posted by Georgi True, true... I haven't seen the TTT DVD, I prefer to wait for the extended edition. | So do I. I just watched a friend's copy. The cool thing is that the special features and commentaries are different. So even if you get both versions there's still some unique stuff that makes the original worth having. Quote: Originally posted by Georgi Saruman dealt with at Isengard, and then the hobbits could just go home in peace at the end. | That's what I've heard. Quote: Originally posted by Georgi Oh, anyone else think the scale of the battle at Minas Tirith looks pretty awesome? | Doubtless. I loved the shots of the Fell Beasts dive bombing.

@K: I just have one question for you- is TTT still best movie ever?
(Now- you've had a few months to think about this redicules statement, so hopefully the Jackson hypnosis has worn off)
BTW: The trailer does indead look great
BTW2: I'm actualy expecting PJ's King Kong more than RoTK. At least there he has some room to move without totaly missing the point
Morlock- who'd do anything for one of those congenial Kayless flames
Morlock2- who rarely agrees with Georgi about these stuff
Morlock3- who has yet to form an opinion of garazdawi's taste in movies
