I dont know but I just caugt a glimpse of this image on yahoo, its a gas staton with a giant blue tarp covering any view from the street.

Is it just me or are you other symers tripped out about this sniper. Its crazy, the fear he has instilled in people... the guys nuts. My question to you guys is, if it is ok with the mods, to bounce idea's off each other of who or what kind of person could do this.

Personally I think ex military, thats just cause thats what my brothers and pals (airforce) claim...

well what do you guys think? anyhow he is nuts

I think you're right. Probably military and definitely nuts.

On the side: Do Spurriers 'skins have anything to do with your bad thoughts.

What have the police been saying about it over there?

Are they keeping quiet, so as not to admit that they don't know anything?

Do they know anything?

Is the feeling that he is just shooting random people whenever he has a chance, or is he motivated in any clear way?

From the little I know, I would suppose that he would have to be of a military or paramilitary training, in order to operate a sniper rifle (which, from what I gather, is a fairly large and involved piece of equipment) in broad daylight and then escape...

Perhaps it is several different people....an organisation with a very obscure agenda...I don't know...

@frogus,

like everything else in the US, the media has beaten this thing to death. If the person or people responsible for this want to know what the police are doing, they need to watch CNN headline news or a local news channel. They announced they were involving the military to bring in surveillance choppers to scour the area of the killings and the next attack happened a good distance away from any of the others.

Personally, I don't think the authorities have much to go on yet although it would appear someone has made contact with the authorities or left a note (details are vague) so perhaps the perpetrator wants to make contact with the Police.

As far as random shootings, I don't know. Perhaps this person/people has a grudge. The killings aren't random though. I would think the killer(s) would have the surrounding area of each attack very well mapped and the shootings were planned.

The Police have been looking for some ties for locale and it seems a few shootings happened outside a chain of shopping complexes or complexes with some type of common store. Sorry, my details are a little vague but I remember reading/hearing something along those lines.

It is a horrible thing though. I'm not certain how I'd react if I lived in the proximity of the attacks. The more attacks that occur though, the more likely it is they will be apprehended.

So after thugs outburst....

I'm not sure about paramilitary, a sniper rifle is easy to operate, and thanks to America's right to bear arms policy, you can both purchase and learn how to shoot one. I think it is 2 people, driver and gunner. As for the blue tarp, it makes a lot more sense then having the guardian angels pump gas for you.

I agree with Obsidian. This isn't necesarilly an ex military person, although the obvious planning that went into these shooting suggests something along those lines.
I've grown up with guns and can hit a target @ 200 yds, and I have no military training at all.

My notion to military might appear because of the use of the weapon, which was not my intention.

Its the planning, the escape the quick and disciplined acts. A mad man, a serial killer... usually have flaws and want to be caught. terrorists want to be known that they did it... Just right out mad people wouldn't be this good.

I believe it is a ex or rejected military/trained (Police etc.) man/men who has a horrid grudge with life and wants to punish others. The fact they have been so good at getting away tells me there is training or a lot of studying up on it.

@ Thug. I agree with you on this one. I have said since the first few, I think it is a Section 8 wash out or special ops wanna be, and I think there are more than one. Having said that, there are Rt. Wing separatist groups a pleanty around these great 50 filled with wackos, some of which may have gotten a little bored with playing paintball in the woods, and wanted to tast the "real thing" .....

This brings a thought to my mind: Surely to be able to hit a target from a great distance, you have to practice? If I were investigating this, I would make some inquiries at local gun clubs and shooting ranges.

His/her planning suggests a good knowledge of the area. Perhaps he/she is/was a delivery driver? Or maybe he/she has access to a dashboard GPS system? Two more avenues of investigation.

Not necessarily Gwally, I am a very good shot also, and rarely get a chance to practice. All you really need is a good rifle, a good scope, and a steady hand...

Remind me not to get on Scayde's or Baron's bad sides....

You may be right, but I think it would still be worth investigating. This person may not have needed the practice to be able to hit the target, but might have needed it to gain familiarity with the gun or confidence.

From what I've read on the newssites, which admittedly is not a lot, this sniper sounds to me like a fairly characteristic, classical serial killer of a certain type. There was a similar case in my city some years ago, a sniper who shot strangers in a well-planned and strategic fashion. It took quite a while before the guy was caught. Also remember that a madman, a person with a very severe psychiatric disturbance, does not necessarily also have a deficit in planning, strategy and general intelligence. Unfortunately, I wish it was so in the case of violent criminals
