The Fellowship DVD I mean
I can't resist, I have to post my comment here, though absolutely unneeded..
I'm not reading the TTT thread, 'cause it's not out here, yet

The DVD.. I bought it cause I *had* to, but I thought I was partly wasting my
money (the 6 hours of extras, just sick! The commercial phenomenon and all..)

Well, I have to say I was completely blown away EVEN by the extras, and now
I love the movie even more!
The passion, love and care behind this movie is impressive.
I realized that Jackson, and all those who work with him, simply USED the power
and the money of the cinematopraphic industry to bring a dream to reality.
I found myself noddind with the head at just about every choice or course taken,
as they were carefully explained in the DVD.
"Yes, that was the only way to do it right!"

They did a vastity of work for the background, which may be compared to what Tolkien
himself did for MiddleEarth, Elven Tongue et cetera (I mean, nobody else ever did such
an enormous work for a book, or a movie, to my knowledge)

Yes, there are maybe some minor flaws, but I easily forget about them, mostly 'cause
I have to be particularly grateful to this people: my mind, though brilliant ()
completely (and I mean COMPLETELY) lacks visual imagination...
I read and loved the book, but all the places, people, races described there remained
only... concepts for me.
Now, I *see* them, no doubt. And they're truly beautyful and believable.
They did the job for me!
And now, some more waiting for TTT....

Congrats Littiz,

I also think that the movie(s) is(are) better than the book(s). Now all I need is a DVD player, a T.V., and some power......

Hey, I never said they are better than the books
I say it in case you aren't kidding

It's just that I've really needed for years to SEE those places...

Be sure to check out the hidden bonus features. A Council of Elrond scene can be found by going to the Scene Selection menu on disc one, and heading to the final page where you'll find the real "Council of Elrond" scene. Highlight that scene and press Down to find an image of the Ring. Press Enter to view the entire clip from MTV complete with an introduction from Peter Jackson.

The trailer for TTT can be found by going to the Scene Selection menu on disc two and navigating your way to the final page where you'll find the chapter with the Fan Club Credits. Move the cursor to the numbers on the far right of the screen, and when it's on "48", press Down to make an image of the Two Towers appear. Press Enter to view the trailer in full anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.

Hidden bonuses, of course I missed them!!!
What's that, a video-game??!
Thanx Kayless! TTT trailer, yuumm.....

Forgot to mention that I absolutely loved Galadriel!
Beautyful, but not unnaturally so, graceful movements and look,
and the joyful expression of amusement when she speaks with Gimli
(another very well done character!), in the extended DVD version!
She looks "out of normality", yes, but *alive*...

And Liv Tyler, with her thin and slender face, is just perfect to play
the elven maiden! Not to speak about Gandalf..
All in all, I think the choice of actors is one of the strong points of the movie

Just to clear up - I'm not suggesting the books are any less than the epoch starting masterpieces that they so obviously are.

The realisation of the books does depend on the reader and their imagination. The film just does a crackingly good job of realising the books. If I was a scholar of the books and contemplated each moment in depth (and abstraction) I *might* do a better job in my head than the movie, having it handed to one on a platter was a joy. - discuss .

And further clearing up I now need - a T.V. a DVD player, some more power, and the extended DVD addition... - Curdis !

Yes, you have to switch from disc 1 to 2 in the middle.

Not sure why, but maybe it`s because of the commentary tracks.

Have faith, all of these things will remain always available
I'd need the surround system now, sigh! Maybe when I'll have the entire serie..
