I just took an online test for IQ that was in a pop-up and did pretty well. I really want to post the link but I'm not sure if it popped up because of GB or Dictionary.com that I had open at the time. I don't want to steal any hits from GB. Does anyone know if the tickle IQ test is one of GB's sponsors?? ANyway, let me know and I'll post the link if it's unoffiliated with GB. If it is, I'm sure you all will see it soon enough.

PS> for what it's worth,. I got a 135 (yeah right) IQ and it said I'm a word warrior type.. It's only 40 questions though and it's not timed. I'm sure it's not very accurate.

Putting it in the right forum is one of the questions on the test.

I work for a finance company, non-business days don't count.

Try the following:
Getting a score below 100
Getting a score below 80
Getting the lowest score possible

I assure you, you'll have much difficulty in achieving those goals - online IQ tests tend to tell you you have a high IQ so you buy their little brochures with EXPERT ANALYSIS!.

I've tried and failed at getting an IQ below ~80 I think

That's a good observation there. I hadn't thought of that. I guess the subliminal messages prevented me from it. You must have the wrong kind of monitor for their tricks to work on you. Every one that I have taken seems to overstate it. I mean come one, 135? That's like top .1 percentile. Well, maybe not that high, but top 1% at least.

Edit: Also, I'm sure that if you do bu y the packet it basically says "You're smart, but we really can't tell with just 40 questions, please buy our comprehensive assessment for only..." Ad naseum.

Slight correction for you...

I scored a 132, or was it 134? on the Standard IQ I was administered by a psychologist, did the test with a migraine, not sure whether I should take it again to see if I'd score higher without a blinding pain in my head, but I was told I'm in the 97th percentile in the U.S. with that score. Which means, only 2-3% of Americans are smarter than me. SO, definately more than 1%, but close.

Those tests amuse me because I've gone through an actual one and there is no way they are accurate. I was given a good number of different activities to do, not just look at a page and answer questions on it. It spread out the tasks you did to listening and interpreting, dealing with physical objects in front of you with space relations and all sorts of things. Helpful for those who don't do well with learning through written words.

Yeah, I have taken a real one as well with a psychologist when I was younger, but I don't have the results of that one. I took a longer one done by Mensa when I had stayed up all night. I was doing a sleep deprivation experiment for school. I got a 127 on that and it said that was top 3rd percentile. I do know that different tests measure different ways, so that could explain the discrepency.

Makes it even more interesting that I got exactly the same result

Last official test I took, I scored 137, and then scoffed. Quite frankly, I don't put much, if any, stock in IQ tests. It's a flawed method of gauging one's intelligence, especially given some people don't test well, others don't like working under pressure, and some may be unmotivated to actually take such tests to full accuracy.

Generally, if someone is trying to brag about how smart they are by using the IQ tests, I ignore them.

I quite agree with that, I test very well academically, but applying my intelligence to normal, every day things isn't so easy. I focus more on analysis and interpretation than anything else and there is quite a drop off in my "intelligence" in things aside from those two areas. I've dealt with helping to teach others who process things differently from the "norm" who were called stupid, who no doubt would score higher should the test be performed in a different manner than it is now.

hehe, reminds of a time in highschool, when a kid came up to a friend and myself and said "I have an IQ of 140", to which my friend replied "that's amazing, I have social skills"
