I'm off

Dear fellow SYM:ers, I'm off for a 3-week holiday at east Greenland and Iceland. I will fly out in 12 hours (I'm at the lab now, writing frantically at a paper I have to finish before that) and spend 1 day in Reykjavik (this because the only flight to Greenland leaves earlier in the day from Reykjavik than the flight from Stockholm arrives there). The following morning I'll fly to Kulusuk at the east coast of Greenland. After that I'm not sure what do to, only that it will include hiking in the mountains (not Tom's kind though) and kayaking in the fiords among the icebergs and pack ice And I will not think of work for a minute
I will then return to Iceland and spend the last 5 days with the hubby there, since he has never been to Iceland.

Take care everybody and see you later!

Thanks all I will bring the new digital camera I got from Silur when he'd been to KL, and hopefully return with some pretty pics.

*yawn* I just took a nap in the examininging room we have for patients...it's 3:20 am here, and I'm still not finished with the bloody article...

You also a scientist?

At least I'm not sleeping on the floor in the PET camera room as one of my colleagues sometimes do

I will when I get home to pack my bag! We are already trying to figure out when on earth we may have time to visit Bangkok! Give Georgi a kiss from me (and Dottie) when you see her!

Theres no real difference between a student and a scientist. Just that my lab, or "fridge" as some people persist in calling it, is a little less well funded than a scientist's.

Sleeping in front of a PET camera? I have no idea what that really is, but the camera part sounds promising

@Zelgadis: The fridge? What are you doing? Cryo-freezing? A PET (positron emission tomography) camera is a sweet and expensive toy for imaging of the living brain. Because of the radioactivity and that the PET system is in the cellar, and that's where my colleague sometimes sleeps at the floor. I prefer the bed in the examination room.

Thanks DW, I think it's going to be great!

Question PET?

...how is it different from the MRI (magnetic resonance imagery)?

BTW, get me some snow from Iceland and keep it for me should you decide to drop by again in BKK.

A kiss? Just a kiss?
