With MRI (we do both MRI and PET), a magnetic field is used to change the spin of particles in the tissue. You get an anatomical image, that shows the brain structural features. There is also functional MRI, fMRI, which shows the metabolism of certain chemicals in the brain. PET however shows not the anatomic features, but the biochemical features in a much more detailed way than fMRI can do. By injecting a tracer dose of a radioactive compound which binds selectivly to the cell type we want to study, we can study the brain's transmission systems.

To keep it frozen all the way to Bangkok I think I'll need to bring one of the huge icebergs from the Disko bay

Ok, two kisses then, one from me and one from Dottie.

Thanks all

Six hours to go...work is going well, almost finished with discussion part of the article now If I push a little I might even have time for breakfast with the hubby before I leave!

And do keep the D2 forum up for me Taco! And you'd better keep that whip away from me or I might not dare to return

@Xan: Yes, summer is the time of the year when you can go to the Arctic, in the winter it's cold Now, it's warm and 24 hours sunshine on Greenland

@Sleepo: Yes, but I finished the article and turned out quite well, I think....let's see what reviewers think.

Thanks again all, now I must catch my flight!

Sure there is ... it is all snow and ice , and the fact that there is midnight sun only enhances that view of snow and ice

Enjoy though

I'm sure they'll love it. Although I have absolutely no basis for tha assumption what so ever, I'm still sure. Ridiculous guesses, that's what the world needs more of.
