Hey all! I don't want to sound like I'm advertising a site or anything, but I'm sure many of us have heard of the Triadic Enneagram, the breakdown of all society into nine basic groups of people.

http://www.duniho.com/fergus/enneagram/test/

That is a free enneagram test (most cost $$$) that will show you what kind of person you are. I ran a search on this site and there hasn't been a thread on this, so...

What's your type? I'm a 7. ^_^

Edit: To the mods: Is there any way that I can make this into a poll? That would be cool. This way we can see how we rank as a whole rather than individually counting.

Five
Primary Intelligence: Mental
Coping Style: Competency
Social Style: Withdrawn
Hierarchical Style: Control

Seeking control over their lives, Fives seek to increase their competency by withdrawing into their minds to gain knowledge. Fives tend to live in the mental world of ideas rather than in the outside world. They are good at creating systems, but their need to be in control makes it difficult for them to work within systems. They tend to work better outside the system than within it. At their best, Fives understand things more deeply than other people and advance science and human knowledge by sharing their insights. Stephen Hawking is an excellent example of a Five at his best. Although wheelchair-bound and almost completely paralyzed, Hawking lives in his mind, exploring the secrets of the universe.

Seven
Primary Intelligence: Mental
Coping Style: Positive
Social Style: Assertive
Hierarchical Style: Ideals

Sevens use their mental intelligence to create a positive spin on life by coming up with various utopian possibilities about how things could be. They can be very inspirational as they assert their utopian ideals about how people can live better lives or make the world a better place. Robin Williams is a well-known Seven, and his character in the movie Dead Poets Society is an excellent example of this. By regularly imagining how things can be good or made better, Sevens tend to be very optimistic, and their optimism gives them the confidence to assert themselves in the world, going after whatever it is they want.

Among the authors of the descriptions given below, Lynette Sheppard identifies herself as a Seven.

My highest score was a five, with 15 points, but I scored 14 in four, and 13 in 8.....

Four
Primary Intelligence: Emotional
Coping Style: Reactive
Social Style: Withdrawn
Hierarchical Style: Ideals

Fours tend to live in a private world of their own personal ideals. They are strongly emotional people who react strongly to even little things. In the course of a day, a Four's emotions can jump between extremes. Fours are often concerned with ideal love, longing after a kind of love that they've never experienced outside of the imagination. They also have strong ideals about themselves, which, combined with highly reactive emotions, can lead them to think terribly of themselves. This makes Fours excessively prone to envy, as they see something good in others and berate themselves for not having the same qualities. The strength of Fours is that they can see the best in others. Fours often become artists, thought not all do, and not all artists are fours. The Swedish film maker Ingmar Bergmann is good example of a Four.

Eight
Primary Intelligence: Behavioral
Coping Style: Reactive
Social Style: Assertive
Hierarchical Style: Control

Out of a need to be in control of their lives, Eights use their strong behavioral intelligence to assert themselves in the world, clearly letting people know where they stand and what they want. When Eights feel that their authority or power is threatened by others, they can react very quickly, unleashing their anger on those who question them. At their best, Eights make very effective leaders.

No wonder I'm messed up!

I was joint 2 and 5 - interesting mix

Two

Primary Intelligence: Emotional
Coping Style: Positive
Social Style: Compliant
Hierarchical Style: Control

Twos try to retain control over their lives by using their strong emotional intelligence to anticipate and meet (comply to) the needs of others. By making themselves indispensible, Twos feel that they can assure themselves a place in others' lives. They also use their emotional intelligence to keep a positive outlook on life, which helps to spare them from the pain they would otherwise feel by being so in touch with other people's needs and emotions. Without keeping a positive outlook, Twos would sink into the pain of those they feel compassion for. At their best, Twos provide great service to those in need. Mother Theresa is a good example.

Five

Primary Intelligence: Mental
Coping Style: Competency
Social Style: Withdrawn
Hierarchical Style: Control

18; here's my breakdown:

You scored as a Five.

On your left is a breakdown of your scores, ordered from highest to lowest. If you are not the type you scored highest as, you might be one of the types you scored next highest as. The highest possible score is 28, and the lowest is 0. Each type is linked to additional information on that type. On your right is the breakdown of how many questions you answered in favor of each triad group.

Type Score
Five- 18
Seven- 14
One- 11
Three- 10
Four- 8
Six- 7
Two- 6
Eight- 6
Nine- 4

Your Raw Scores by Triad Preferred Intelligence Triad

Intelligence Triad:
Behavioral - 891 - 0
Emotional - 234 - 1
Mental - 567 - 6

Hierarchial Styles Triad
Control - 258 - 3
Harmony - 369 - 0
Ideals - 147 - 4

Coping Styles Triad
Positive - 792 - 1
Competency - 135 - 6
Reactive - 468 - 0

Social Styles Triad
Assertive - 378 - 3
Compliant - 126 - 1
Withdrawn - 459 - 3

I'm not sure what all this stuff means, so I'm trying to read through and figure out how the scoring system works.

Sixes seek harmony with the world by complying to group standards. As mental types, they are preoccupied with danger, as their minds think of one dangerous scenario after another. They seek safety through group membership, perhaps because there is safety in numbers. Being keenly aware of the possibility for danger, they can react quickly when something seems amiss. At their best, Sixes make very loyal friends.
Well apparently, I'm a Six. I would agree with most of what that says about me, except for the bit about conformism - anyone who knows me can tell you I'm not exactly just another face in the crowd...

Oh, and the group membership thing's a bit off too. Come to think of it, that result is only about half like me. Probably all the other results would have a large element of truth to them too, just like reading any of the twelve horoscope signs will have some bearing on what happens to you...

I thought that as well, but when you consider, it makes a lot of sense. We are all quite engaged with computers and enjoy rpgs and fantasy....these are often reflections of withdrawn personalities....

Very close call between 8 and 7

Eight 15
Seven 14

According to the site, I obviously share the honour with Joseph Stalin as well as George W Bush!
