A conversation I was having earlier caused me to give some thought to directing movies, and I began to consider the various movies I might like to direct with an unlimited budget and resources... hey.. dream big.. I figured that for a first attempt it might be fun to direct a movie in which a modern day comedien is somehow transported back to the Middle Ages and forced to earn a living as a court jester... subject to the whims and tantrums of a fickle monarch... A time and place in which losing one's head was fatal indeed I figure Robin Williams might be good for this role..maybe with Christopher Lee as the king
So the question is, if you had a vast budget and access to any sort of resources you required what sort of movie would you direct and who would star in it?

LotR - The musical.
Seriously though, there are a few movies that i liked the concept of, but imo have been ruined by directors or poor script etc. And LotR is among them... The Matrix is another one.

Hmm, I'd probably do a few computer games, anyone remember that thread on the BG2 board about a BG movie? I'd probably do that, and maybe Planescape: Torment: The Movie.

Yeah....Id definetly make either a Baldurs Gate II movie, Icewind Dale movie, or Alpha Centauri movie. Actors pending. Ill post the actors when my eyes are less bloodshot and when I stop dozing off every 20 minutes.

I think Planescape would make a very cool movie, I would cast Harvey Keitel as The Nameless One, or maybe Alan Rickman

Naturally, my sublime artistic sensibilities tell me that RPG adaptations are fated to voidness of meaning and emotional significance...I wanna make the Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha movie...with Christopher Lee as Garuda....
Other than that, I think that a film about Carravaggio would be interesting...
Though I would probably just end up making third rate film noir...

Metal Gear: The Musical anyone?
actually, the thought of a metal gear chorus line, and the slightly disturbing image of ninja's croaky robotic solo come to mind. i think i'll start on a script...

I would make HighLordDave Saves the World, a sci-fi/fantasy action adventure with a "romantic" twist. HLDSTW would star me staving off an exterrestrial invasion and teaching society a valuable lesson about tolerance and loving one's neighbours. Co-starring would be Dyanna Lauren, Janine Lindemulder, Julia Ann, Tera Heart, Audra Mitchell and Kobe Tai, with special appearances by Ned Flanders, Bloodstalker and KidD01.
