Football is one of my most favorite sports, but it has its bad side for me as well. I twisted my ankle playing football

@arno, they only use pads and stuff in the league. I play outside the league <- my game face

I actually have no hobbies really. I used to horse backride. I used to play the guitar. I used to do sports.

These days i spend reading and well doing or understanding International politics. I spend 3 hours reading the news daily. If you can call that a hobby.

Gaming, spamming and reading. That is about it i don't have time to do anything else.

I have a hobby that exists only in Bergen, I am a member of something called a "Buekorps" (bowsquad or x-bowsquad loosely translated)

I originated around 150 years ago, with young boys pretending to be in the army. what we do (in short) is that we march aroud the city on saturdays (in springtime) with something like 20 people beating the march on drums, and the rest (usually kids) carry around wooden x-bows (they are just crosses really). My job is to make sure that the kids (called soldiers btw) march in line and keep the right pace and so on. We also have 2-4 people carrying a large banner with our insignia on it.

here are some pictures for you.

This is from our national day (17th of may) last year, I am the guy in pic 6 with the sabre.
(the 6 first are my buekorps. It is called Wesselengens Bataljon)

I have been an active member for 11 years (almost as long as mini has lived )

Well at the moment I dont have anything that i could call as hobby. But i have done quite many things. Such as VPK. There are young kids learning to be firemam. Then I was boy scout, but that didn't last. Then if you count mopeds, bikes and cars as hobby, those things just got booring since all others were stupid. With stupid i mean that they were like this: Lets drink more beer and drive 200KM/H and they ahd nasty habbit of driving in cicle.

Then I can draw, pretty well if you ask me. But then I am lot better at drawing than majority but still i am not that good. With little training i could be, but I am not that sure about it. Then i have tried to do things with Photoshop but mouse just wont work with me. Then sometimes will just have this weird urge to create some avatars or potrtaits.

Eh, not really
Lemme show you.

These are traditionals:

This is a compund bow:

And this *insertd heart-shaped icon here* is an olympic recurve bow:

(Without all the usualy gadgets, mind you This is pretty bare compared to how you would use it for shooting).

Of course, there are "heavier" and "ligther" in that they're harder or easier to pull. This is what we call poundage: the draw weight (how hard it is to pull) is given in pound. For women 30-38lbs is average, for men it's 36-46lbs.

They vary in length, too (the risers are available in different lengths with a 2" difference, and the limbs can be bought in medium, small and long sizes, all have a great effect on the draw weight, of course).

@Jopperm: oh Well, it was ArcheryOutdoors, I suppose? They're mainly hunters there, but quite a nice company anyway. There's archery-forum.com, too, where my username is Nalia, more recurve fans there

When you live inthe farm, and there is pretty much nothing around, and all you have is a flea infested bar with a pool, and three neighbors that only play cards and chess, you'll have that as a hobbie. I'm teaching them chess, they teach me pool (I suck at pool).

No, we start around march/april and do it every saturday untill we finish in summer with a trip somewhere. We also practice on wednesdays (mostly drumming practice though)

But everything is sort of training for the 17th of May when all the buekorps march in the parade a long with the brassbands, sprtsteams, and everybody else in the parade.

There are 15 buekorps in total, (12 boys only, 2 girls only and one mixed) there were only boys only buekorps untill asomething like 13 years ago when the first girls only buekorps was founded. Many don't like girls in buekorps, and refuse to aknowledge them (they say it interferes with the tradition) I think it is sad that they can't accept girls in buekorps, since the tradition is dying out, and the girls have just the same right to make a buekorps as the boys have.

We also do other things than march aswell, we have parties (both with the kids, and witrhout the kids) we go to the cinema, we take trips. we go to pizza resturants and so on.

There has alays been much conflict beetween the different buekorps in Bergen, one of the oldest buekorps has a banner called "The blood banner" because one can still see the bloodstains on it. But there is nothing of these things nowadays.

Members of buekorps usually have a strong sense of loyalty to their specific buekorps. so if somebody transfers from one to another, then he is usually labeled a "Judas" for the rest of his buekorps career.

Vapaa Palokunta. It would be something like free fire-brigade. But it makes more sense if I translate it as kids fire-brigade.

@Brynn, It must have been. I doubt there are any other Brynns out there that are into archery. I like that name, Nalia, where did you get it?

@Yeltsu, Now that is cool! You have a beautiful city too. Which pic is it that you are in? I couldn't see you. What does your banner look like?
