Hello to all - more worms and a night with Xandax ;)

First of all, welcome to all new members! There are several names here I do not recognise, which is a good thing since new members are the lifeblood of this forum.

Then, I'd like to apologise to everybody who I haven't sent PM:s to for a long period of time. As often, I've been terrible busy. A lot of things have happened. Our lab has had the good fortune of receiving an enormous amount of funding, which is brilliant of course, but it also means an enormous amount of work planning new projects for several years ahead. I am preparing for a post-doc period at a lab abroad - I haven't decided exactly where yet since I have got a surprising amount of job offers lately, which I need to consider carefully. Most likely it will be Washington DC or California by the end of this year. Going away as a guest researchers also means I must finalise the large projects I am leading currently and we haven't been very successful in finding someone who can replace me for while I'm away. Apart from work, I've been on a 2-week holiday in Turkey to look at the cliff formation in Anatolia, I am pregnant (about halfway) and I've spent a night in Xandax' bed (The latter two are however not related.) For those of you who are into Gamebanshee gossip, I can reveal that Xandax is not only nice, funny, smart, rational and the perfect gentleman IRL - he is also an excellent cook

I hope all of you are happy and well! I'll try to post more here now when my workload is decreasing a bit!

Just for that I'm going to have to nominate you and Xandax for the "Best Couple Award" in the SYM awards thread

Seriously, congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome back !

PS
Do you have photos? I mean of Turkey, not Xandax's bed!

ROFL I shot a few films in Turkey, but I have forgotten to develop them - good you reminded me, I haven't even unpacked them yet. I am old fashioned when it comes to photography, I still use slides for landscape photography.

Well, when you you do get a chance to develop them, it would be wonderful to see them if you wanted to share.
I know the feeling. I don't use slides but I do use an old manual Olympus camera, in my view the old manual cameras still beat digital by a long shot. Yes, I'm a dinosaur in this regard

I’d be happy to be of any assistance! Would it be a problem bringing my dog along with me? He wouldn’t hurt anybody, he’s very cute, clever, and he’d also be willing to help. (*my dog’s voice:*) “Hey, boss, ask her how many trees and places of green there are in her workplace…and, and…” (*talking to my dog, never mind*) “Shut up, it’s the last time I’m telling you this, we’ll never get a proper job if you bark your demands all the time!”

My congratulations, too. Having read your post in “People and their priorities” I guess the baby(ies) will be just fine, nevertheless I’d like to indicate that you should be considering your actions carefully during this period of time, I understand you have a lot of serious work to do, but I believe your baby should be your top priority whatsoever! (not that I believe it is not)

Welcome back, CE! I thought you had sodeth off to somewhere culturally superior to Sweden (and now you're talking about going to California? ) or vanished down a test tube or something. Nice to have you here again, and congrats on being pregnant. How's that gonna work out when you're on the move?

She did - she visited me. I'm cultural superior to most anything

I was wondering about the same thing. That and the "culturally superior" thing.

Seriously, I think CE must be the person on SYM who's met the most other members. I find that pretty cool. Maybe the Scandinavian Elite should gather some sunny day, in Copenhagen for instance?

Congrats, CE! Should we assume that Silur was involved in your reproductive cycle, or is this a case of spontaneous conception?

In any case, our regards to you both, even all three. I can only hope for your sake that the child isn't born in Washington DC. That would be something no sane human being could ever forgive its parents for.

I have no idea how that happened, so I'm assuming it's one of those virgin birth things and that it forebodes the coming of the anti-christ - judging by other offspring in my proximity, they're *all* anti-christ for quite a while... say 18 years, give or take
