...or as those of us who are single like to call it: Saturday.

Well anyways I'm wishing you all a great time with your valentines (pix plz). May you not get affected by the bitter cynicism which is so common during that time.

For the ones which are spending this alone, may you kick up a fuss about it like you've never done before.

That is all.

So it's Valentine's Day, I actually have a boyfriend for once... and I have to work. Silly Valentine's nonsense.

They are scraping the barrel today as well. Earlier, we had to subtitle a valentine-related interview with an astrologer. Apparently fire signs will have a good romantic year (@Gwally )...

LOL But will you be doing anything different than what you do every other Saturday?

Actually even if I wasn't working, I probably wouldn't be doing anything out of the ordinary. Who needs one day a year to shower your loved one(s) with affection, eh?

Happy Valentine to all those who are celebrating it!

As for me, I have never celebrated Valentine's, it's pretty new to celebrate it here in Sweden.

I have to work too, and Silur, but we will have dinner with some friends tonight (provided I have submittet this %&@£ abstract by then).

A couple of days ago, a Swedish newspaper did an online poll regarding how men wanted to be courted by women on Valentine's day. 30 000 men replied to the poll, and results were:

92% wanted to be courted on Valentine's day.
72% thought women were bad at this

57% wanted to be celebrated by having hot, passione sex
20% wanted to celebrate with a cosy night at home
16% wanted to celebrate with a romantic dinner at a restaurant

27 % wanted a good whisky as a Valentine's gift
24 % wanted roses
16% wanted sexy underwear (for themselves)
8% wanted something nice for the house
8% wanted a computer game
6% wanted jewelry
5% wanted a treatment at a beauty saloon

What men didn't want to have was (and pay attention to this, girls)
26% absolutely don't want a DIY-tool of some kind.
14% don't want a tie (it's for your father, not you lover )

So, if you date a Swedish guy, give him a good Scotch, a dozen red roses, and attack him with some red hot sex! Maybe this can be generalised to men of other nationalities as well - it's worth trying!

You know I'd be really surprised if this didn't apply to men of other nationalities

Now this one has me intrigued... Are we talking about sexy underwear actually designed for men... or are we talking about men who want to receive women's lingerie from their female partners.....

Oh, I can hear it now, all the (multi-national) men screaming "No! We don't want red-hot sex on Valentine's Day! Perish the thought!"

I wouldn't bet on that, considering the poll Fable posted previously that showed that a majority of British women preferred ironing to sex. Maybe that goes for British men as well?

That wasn't clarified in the poll Maybe unisex?

Probably not, seeing how many people compain they have too little time and energy for sex. Whereas Brits prefer ironing to sex, Swedes seem to prefer sleeping to sex (according to a poll done by another newspaper)

too little time and energy for sex. Perhaps in a couple of decades, we'll be on the endangered species list. Such statements could be a rally for cloning.

Happy Valentines Day.

I'm now headed out for a night of drinking scotch in pursuit of a one night stand. With any luck, I'll be abused.

Cheers.

Seems unlikely though.

Unisex lingerie? How about his'n'hers matching sets...

The Economist has published an interesting article. Apparently the difference between lust and love is just a couple of chemicals. And also love is more similar to snorting coke than experiencing a strong emotion.
