Must get back to the festivities at hand, but I wanted to wish everybody a Happy St. Patrick's Day! I wish you all could be here to share this stock of Guiness and Killian's with me (I'm a beer drinker at a party full of liquor drinkers... I'll be 34 pounds heavier tomorrow ), but seeing as it's kind of short notice I hope everyone is getting similarly plastered somewhere! Go n-éirí an bóthar leat
Go raibh an ghaoth go brách ag do chúl
Go lonraí an ghrian go te ar d'aghaidh
Go dtite an bháisteach go mín ar do pháirceanna
Agus go mbuailimid le chéile arís,
Go gcoinní Dia i mbos A láimhe thú.
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

I just baked a batch of fudge brownies.. they go awfully well with Guinness or Porter.. providing you don't consume too much of either
Happy St. Patrick's Day
p.s... and I *really* hope nobody here is drinking green beer...

*shudders* | My old roommate Josh had an "accident" from chugging a pitcher of the stuff last weekend. Nasty mess.
I got wicked drunk this afternoon, the buzz wore off a while ago though. I couldn't stay up late and party because I have work tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is drinking night though!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
@ Tony, My great-aunt Helen always sings that to me when I see her on those rare occasions I do. She's an Irish folk-singer who travels all over the US and Ireland. Well, she used to. She's old now.

Happy St. Paddy's Day all. Not even 9pm and the buzz is wearing off. Think I might have to break out the Korean Berry Wine in a bit. Guiness is a little heavy for this late in the game, it's a good thing I started off with it.

Ugggh, nothing like catching a late train, with four drunk blokes on one side of the carridge, alternating between yelling out loud, and taking swigs from he bottle, or the other side with two guys who had only heard of one word starting with F... and it wasn't firetruck.

And I shall honour that role, as every Australian has since we first stumbled across this land in the haze. We thought the koala was a kebab.

That, my friend, was the birth of the barbecue. Whoa, I'm using the barbecue in two threads... this will not end well.

Oh lord... I promised friends/ex-coworkers I'd join them for St. Patrick festivities. I knew it'd be bad, but I didn't realize it would be so terrible. Parking was a disaster, every bar was crowded to the point where a beer bottle could barely make its way through, let alone a person. We started at Chili's, only because it's right near where my friend works (and where I used to), and we took advantage of the two-for-one drink deal. Four Long Islands and I was blitzed; four Sex and the Beaches and my friend was, too. Boy we were a bit loud and obnoxious and flirting with the staff; classic drunk. I sobered up and began hating the holiday, much as I do most. We went to three different bars once there was 5 of us, and at the third bar we became 6 for about 30 minutes. Had me a fifth LI, it didn't do much for me, I never quite got buzzed again, but did get a decent headache and decided I couldn't take being in a crowded bar anymore. Went home. The sea of green and cheesy shirts like the beer glass equals a shamrock made me sick. I hate this racist holiday, and I feel like I'm the only Irish person who does.

Is it just me, or has St.Patrick's Day turned into a much bigger deal over the last few years?
I really don't remember there being all of this commercial hype ten or fifteen years ago...
Or maybe my memory is just failing me...

| | yeah, well... I'm still drunk! if and when puking, remember to put wrists near knees so balance is not lost. When finished, go back and have another drink! That, friends, is what we call The Second Wind! Maybe all the hype's really an excuse to go out and party! | I'm seeing green!

Even the New York Knicks wore green for their home uniform at the Garden.
And you know what? They won over the mighty Detroit Pistons!
Must be some leprechaun magic or the Knicks were chomping four-leaf clovers for breakfast. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode
