Greatest scientifical and technological prospects of 2005 (relative spam only)

What do you think are the most promising inventions/innovations that are being developed right now? What can the world look forward to?

Please add and keep adding more!

Iter (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) nuclear fusion reactor at Cadarache in France.
It's fuel: water and lithium. It's capacity: huge!

Genotherapy by replacing disease-causing genes with healthy genes with a virus vector.

Stem cells.

Pharmacological cognitive enhancers for Alzeimers, schizophrenia, ADHD, autism and other disorders that affect cognitive functioning.

None on this will be finished 2005, but they are among the most promising research areas right now.

I would like it if Science (ie- evolution, the scientific method) could actually beat out intelligent design/creationism in education. The fact that people here even put the two on the same level for consideration is asonine.

The non adherent bubble gum. There's an english guy, I believe, that has mixed two polymers (sp?) and it resulted on a bubblegum that wont stick to the ground or under a desk, for example. I'll try to find the link. The guy received a prize for that, since retrieving bubble gum is a hard and expensive thing for the public cleansing sistem.
