I need to create a few Genealogical tables for my research.

When I did MA degree, I did this by cut & paste... And I really mean cut by scissors and paste them with grue! Now, even though I want to create them for history subject (16th Century), I thought it would be easier to use software/freeware. I don't need anything too complicated, and I don't need photos/pictures in them. I don't even need them in colour! No addresses, no telephone numbers.

I need: Name, titles/status (Dukes, Popes, Kings etc), spouses (plural. Many had many mistresses and many children from different partners ), date of birth/death/marriages (again, many spouses, different years), children's status (illegitimate childrens). Cause of Death, maybe, just in case he was assassinated.

Have any of you ever used such program and can recommend me? If you find any review/recommendation in somewhere, please let me know. Or, is it easier to create template in Excel or Access?

Thanks in advance.

Minerva! No-one replied to your thread!

I have no idea what you're talking about because I know more than nothing about computers.

But I know a little about genealogy and once worked (briefly) in the Records Office for Births, Deaths and Marriages here in London.

Yes, I know that's no help at all but good luck with whatever you're tying to achieve.

Basically, I want to make family trees. The softwares in shops are expensive, and I don't need too complicated staff. I just don't want to cut and paste with scissors, paper knives and glues any more.

Oh, well, I knew it would be difficult to get replies here anyway. I'll just leave this thread for spam, then...

Here in West Virginia, everyone's family tree is all trunk and no branches. The state motto is, "We're one big, happy family -- really!"

He speaks the truth. 90% of every phone book in every county of W.Va. is comprised entirely of Adkins or Atkins. I'm sure when HLD breaks out the credit card, he gets that 'you're not from around here, are you boy' look.

sorry to spam the thread, I've lived there too and couldn't resist.

Either that or the guy says something like, "You've got a purrty mouth, boy" and then I hear banjo music.

Back on topic a sec:

@Minerva, I have a program called The Ultimate Family Tree. I never really got to use it, so am not sure how great it is, but I recall it was pretty user friendly. I tried loading it tonight but unfortunately it is not Win XP compliant, but you are most welcome to it if you want it - just PM me your address

Minerva,
I am sorry I can't point you to a specific program, but I can point yu toward a wonderful resource. The Church of Jesus Christ of Laterday Saints, commonly known as the 'Mormons" have perhapse one of the largest geneological resources in the world with records on families across the globe. These are not jsut Church members, however mostly church members do the work. The reasons they have these databases, is subject for a whole other thread, but for your purposes, it is enough to know they are available, and free to any who seek to document their ancestry. They perhaps can recomend a program to you as well, since most all of their records are now done on Computer. If there is a branch of this church near you, you can go there, access their database for free, adn most likely have help from one of the volunteers working there. Yu do not have to be a member, or even a Christian to do this. The only repayment they seek is that information be alowed to be put into the master database with the goal of one day having a complete geneological record of all its members.

I hope this helps

edit:. @Ysh..Hi Sis.*HUG*
