Are you for or against President George W. Bush? PLease state why and base it on facts. I don't want any "oh i dont like him cuz he cant talk right" or "i luv him cuz hes cute" (there are some sickos at my school) polluting this thread. This is simply a thread for people to speak about there FACT based opinions.

I suggest you do a search under "Bush"
You will find many opinions and posts on the subject.

IMO... polls like this are a little pointless. If you want to discuss Bush in a specific context, for example, his views on abortion or the much-discussed Iraq situation, then fine.
But, and I'm no defender of Bush incidentally, this borders on the verge of trolling.

IMO, the facts all speak against him...

Although I would not call this thread an attempt to trolling, I also find the discussion a bit pointless. The question in itself is one to think about, though. Even if it is only a second.

Phreddie, I think you and I agree that a lot of people have ungrounded reasons to 'hate' or 'love' the President, their arguments being like the examples you gave.

A more interesting question would be: Is democracy still effective when Presidents are products and voters are seen as consumers? I think a lot of Americans know who they're voting for, but not what they're voting for. This ofcourse undermines the essence of Democracy. But this brings us very close to the discussion -or rather rant- of 'Winning presidency with good looks and a generous smile instead of leadership and qualities'. I think we know what this rant looks like by now and the discussion, IMO, is useless. It'll come down to everyone agreeing that US-democracy is outdated, corrupt and flawed...

I'm a bit torn about what to think of this thread as a moderator.

I have a problem seeing the purpose behind this thread/poll, because it doesn't really seem to discuss anything and seems to be another dig towards Bush, which we have quite a lot of allready.

Thus I'm going to go with my gut instinct and close this, because it seems far to trollish for my liking. If you wish to discuss Bush, then the best way to do so is in refernece to something concrete instead of staring a thread, and asking people to supply the concrete issues. Possible the existing threads suffice, or new can be made, but a general topic of "for or against Bush" serves no purpose in my view.

Topic closed.
