Football Ramblings (American NFL)

Since the Lakers got killed in the finals, I have had a good long laugh at the sorry dismatleing of that overhyped franchise, and lo and behold, football nears. Anyway, I figure to ramble on incoherently in this thread about the NFL and how I see things. Whcih mean I am gonna live up to my name and BS plain and simple. I am not a football God. I am a know it all fan. Feel free to argue the hell outta anything I say. That's what sports are for

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys- Much inmproved team under Parcells last year. This year the division gets tougher, and they won't have that weak of a schedule as they did last season. Defensivley, this team looks in pretty good shape, and a few additions on offense should help. Keyshawn tends to play big for Parcells, and parcells knows how to use him. Johnson will never scare anybody for his bigplay ability, but he will move the chains consistantly. Add to the mix an intrigueing prospect at RB, and Dalss offense could be a lot better. Let's face it, Hambrick was never worth a squat. I don't look for Drew Henson to be much of a factor this season. He's been out of football too long. Dallas could make the playoffs, depending on what kind of season they get from the running game. If they do not improve significantly over last yearm, they won't make it.

NY Giants- Welcome to the frying pan Manning. You wanted it, you demanded it, you got it. Let's break down what you have going for you. You have a running game that would be more than adequate...except that no one has told Barber that it's in his job description to hold onto the ball. Recievers with outstanding physical skill....except they have a nasty habit of droping the ball too. Shockey...well, shockey will be wonderful if you can keep his attetnion from yelling at his own fans. Defensivly, this team lost it's leading tackler, and just didn't look like they cared for most of last season. They also whined about being worked too hard in the offseason. Bottomdwellers, and don't look to next year either kid....all the talent that should have been coming to help you will be playing with Rivers in SD.Oh, and Warner just may take your job in pre-season.Your team has no mental toughness, but you should fit in there. Dumbass.

Eagles- This should be a simple matter of addition and subtraction. First lets look at what they added. Let's see...they got Terrell Owens....who last year couldn't have caught a cold if he'd been standing naked in the arctic. In the rain. Not only that, he demands the ball constantly, which does not fit Philly's style of offense. Can he keep his mouth shut? Maybe. Does he have talent? Absolutly. Is this a lock for a much improved Eagles? Nope. Besides, after the way he disrespected ray Lewis and the ravens, if they play Baltimore, look for the last play of Owens season to be a crossing route over the middle...
Next, they overpaid Jevone Kearse This guy hasn't been the freak since his rookie season. he's brittle, easily injured, and nowhere near the dominant player his salary says he is. Now, what did they lose? Both starting CBs. You know, the two reasons their defense was worth spit in the first place? Well, now you have no corners in a division that has Toomer, Hilliard, Antonio Bryant, Laverneus Coles, Rod Gardner....oh, and their linebacking corp susck too. A three man show that ain;'t goinna sniff the playoffs all season long.

Skins- *HOMER ALERT* Skins got better almost everywhere. They now have a legitimate feature back in Portis, a talented and deep recieving corp, and a coach to put it all together. Oh, and Spurriers retarded sandlot blocking schemes are gone now too. Defensivley, the loss of Bailey will not be felt much provided Springs can stay healthy. Michael Barrow is the NFC leading tackler from a year ago, and a huge improvement over Trotter. He's also got the age to settle down a young Redskin defense. Taylor will hit anything that moves. But, sadly, I still look for a soft D-line, which means teams will run the ball on them. However, with a committment to the running game, this team will make the playoffs this year. Gibbs is as good a coach as Parcells is, and has more talent than Dallas did last seasoin to work with.

More to come

I don't know many of the teams, their strenghts or weakness and only very few of the players....
I just like to watch it

So I just hope that the winner of the Superbowl will win the league this year

You know, the way things went for me last season, I don't think I'd even be safe with that bet

Could be worse. I got over my gambling addiction when I lost hair over the Super Bowl a few years back

WooT! Redskins BABY! Portis is going to have a harder time with the O-Lines he has to face now, BUT with our coaching staff and the on hand talent we've been dragging for the past years... this is going to be good.

Is it time already? Man, the beginning of football season almost makes summer worth ending. almost.

Honestly, I haven't paid too much attention to off season transaction or if I did, I don't recall squat. I'll review over the next couple of weeks. IIRC, the skins and chargers came out ok. Personally, I think Gibbs will find little competition in his division. Like last year, the four best teams in the NFL will be from the AFC.

Carolina was foolish to give delhomme (isn't this "of man" in french) all that money. The guy certainly plays like a gamer, but I don't see any longevity of success.

The hometown Vikings here had a great offseason and a tasty draft. I still hate and will forever hate this squad and the entirety of their fan base. I would truly enjoy seeing them start 0-4 (especially with GB in there during the first month) and listen to the rubes whine like beeoches all fall long; makes autumn that much more satisfying.

As for the Pack and Pats, there offseasons were nothing extra but I expect good things from both. That's enough for now from the uneducated. I'll be get some smart reel soon and come back.

My picks....

AFC East: Pats. They have won two superbowls, and did it without having a RB of even half the caliber Cory Dillon is. I Know Dillon was a prima donna in Cincy, but he will get all the carries he wants in NE. The one thing that is gonna hurt the Pats is the loss of Washington on the D-Line. When you have that type of a player, you can't replce his value in stopping the run, esp when you play a 3-4 system. Still, their secondary, if it's possible, got even better with some verteran depth added over the offseason. All in all, this teams looks stronger than they were last year, and they reeled of like 14-15 strau\ight last season.

AFC North:Baltimore. By ruight, and by default. The Steelers still can stop anybody's run game, but who runs on the steelers when you can toss up 400 yard passing games like their free? Bengals will fail to reach the playoffs because palmer is gonna cost them a couple games,(Not that I disagree with the move, Kitna has had one good year his whole carreer), and the browns...well, they don't count uless their defense learns the NFL doesn't go by touch football rules.

AFC South:Colts. Pissed off over last season, and this year officials are being told to call contact close after the way the pasts magled their wussy recievers in the championship game. The defens had to get better though. Texans will push the Titans for second place in this division.

AFC West: Denver. KC can score, but they can't stop anybody. And Donte Hall won at least three games for them last year that he won;t win this year. Chargers...nuff said. Raiders have the Norv factor, which may secure them first pick in the draft next year. No, I am not exagerating, he does suck that badly. As far as losing Portis, the Broncos draft RB's like Britney spears changed breast size. And Baily will be a big impact on D.

Wild card....Lets say KC and Texans. Yeah, you heard me dammit. Have some guts with your picks.

(If only rocky flop would fall so easily....:D )

When the Church of Sleazel backs you, expect the good with the bad.

It was the only fun part, cause watching both Brunell and Ramsey was just painfull

At least the Broncos looked bad too for the most part.
