I friend of mine made a remark about how the experts invited to swedish TV debates about war were selected differently in the gulf war 1&2 compared to most other wars. According to him the percentage of debates about millitary problems/technology was significantly higher than otherwise, on the account of humanitarian issues.

I dont watch TV debates, so my question is have anyone else noticed something similar? And if so what do you think the cause is?

Also, Do you think the same is true for other media?

I certainly haven't noticed this. What point are you trying to make by suggesting it is so?

In fact, I thought the focus on humanitarian issues has been overwhelming. The media was more excitable in the trouser department over the military hardware used in Gulf War 1 as I recall.

I haven't noticed it as well, at least on the channel I watch. I see more of "experts" making claims the "attack plan" is this or that and then watch as the complete opposite is done....why the same "expert" then claims this was the "other" plan they "forgot" to report, but the "expert" knew about the whole time, but due to "security" reasons decided not to tell the public. ...Then they goto "Bill" in the desert and get the same report from him for the 50th time while running the "Promo" claiming up todate news report with "breaking news...."Bill has gas!"

I'd agree with Grunt on this. I remember loads of shots from bomb-cameras of precision guided bombs blasting bunkers apart with a little commentary about progress of the war etc. Apart from a few shots towards the end of the conflict little attention seemed to be paid to civilians.
