| | | Yup we have been a given a case study to do, now the case is made up, but we have a slight problem. The 1989 and 1997 regulation place stipulations for mergers together, while our prof told us they are seperate.
If they are together, our case study is worthless. If the stipulations are seperate of each other, the case makes sense and i can write my paper. But it depends what my prof. thought. It is due tomorrow and cant call him at 12 pm.

| | | Well I am not going to be of a great deal of help, I just wondered if that was indeed what you were looking for. There is a case at the moment involving Safeway in the UK which should probably involve the monopoly and mergers commission but they are strangely not moving on it yet. I don't know if you find that story it might mention some of the finer details.
You are in a difficult position, I suspect that you are required to work on the information you are given and what information your lecturer has given you may be right but at the same time you are writing on a specific case, which I would suppose means his rules don't apply, go with the answer that makes sense. If you write a convincing essay then it won't necessarily matter. Is it possible that the rules changed after these two cases?

| | | According to the prof the rules did change, however they have not implemented it in text. He said the stipulations were seperate. The regulation says the opposite....i am stuck. Might as well do what i thought first. Point out both cases and let him decide. But this is gonna take a lot of reworking...where is Mcbane when you need him, or Astafas.
BTW i swear the guys have helped out me in many ways. Heck the discussions here make great politics papers....

| | Yeah, he can't really complain if you show a knowledge of the subject at hand, if anything it is more impressive to have a knowledge of both. Of course he might be a bastard and he might like things very precise but hopefully he will like your style of implementing both rules. I'd be interested in reading it while your done with it, if over email or whatever it would be good

You interested in EC law? | Cheers, pm me when you have it done and I will give you my proper email address.
I am interested in some senses, it isn't exactly a subject I have spent much time involved in but it might be good for conversations or even just from personal interest.
