Coming from an Open Wheel Background, I must say I'm shocked. The safety oversight in the cars, in my opinion, is horrendous. They are lucky they haven't had more deaths.

I know nothing about racing of any sort, but I'm sorry somebody had to lose their life when it probably could have been easily prevented.

When ever we lose one of our brothers, the whole sport comes together. No matter what series.

Honestly, what do you expect, driving without a cage??? It happened to Darrell Russell in Drag Racing a few years ago. We have a violently explosive engine behind, and NO STINKING PLATE INBETWEEN. The engine grenaded, and the Shrapnel got him. A dark day.

EDIT-I just saw a tape of the wreck. That was one of the most violent wrecks I have ever saw. Usually, the harder it looks, the better chance you have (within reason.)

Damn, that crash was strong. I wish he had survived, but there was no hope, in fact.
