- Tyr Anasazi, Andromeda

This is not meant to offend but I couldn’t help but remember Tyr’s line from “The Ties that Bind” episode. The Nietzcheans of Andromeda constantly fascinate me with their dichotomy and alien agenda (they’re humans yet their value system and beliefs are more alien then the extraterrestrials we see on most Sci-Fi programs). They’re paranoid, selfish, elitist bastards who value survival at all costs, and yet their honesty, familial loyalty (to their clan as a whole more than individuals), and courage are just as prominent as their less noble characteristics. Despite the fact that they scorn all religion their devotion to their culture and their inherent sense of superiority borders on fervor seldom seen outside of religious circles. The way each Nietzchean takes personal responsibility for his own actions (good or bad) is in stark contrast to our modern victim society that gives people numerous excuses to avoid taking blame for their own actions.

This post should really be somewhere else, but I think the Nietchean philosophy is one worth examining. P.S. I don't believe in divination.

@Kayless, I'm afraid you're one (or many) up on me. I haven't watched television except in passing for the last twelve years. Is "Andromeda" a series?

The funniest take on divination that I ever saw was SCTV's fake trailer for a program called "Nostradamus: Prophet of the Future!" Dave Thomas was an incredibly annoying, nerdy Nostradamus, who kept bothering people who would hit or scream at him, at which point he'd smirk and say, "I knew you were going to do that." Finally, they said at the end of the trailer that it had even been canceled before airing--at which point you heard Thomas repeating his line in the background.

By the way, I just found a really neat SCTV website in trying to recall the name Thomas' name. Check out: http://sctvguide.ca/. Nice to see that the series is remembered. I think it was the funniest thing to come out of America (and yes, I mean the US and Canada).
