Cool Do you ever get those dreams...?

No, not *those* dreams. (Clean out your mind, degenerate!) I mean the kind of dreams where you're doing something you dread, or attempting something you can't succeed at.

Like I said, clean out your mind.

I occasionally dream of being unable to meet a deadline on something I'm writing, losing a fat check and getting tossed into the rubbish bin of the unemployment line. (For some reason in my dreams, every publishing house knows instantly that I missed a deadline, and they all unite against me.)

So have you had any of these troubling dreams? And if not, why are you even reading this?

I have a dream every night (It's a nightmare really) I wake to find my computer gone and I search the house but it's gone. Panic sets in then and I start turning in bed. My wife hits me with the broom and wakes me up, still the memories linger.

I tend to have very vivid dreams. My wife is usually very impressed. Some times I have what I call 'story dreams' with characters and events. Pretty cool. These, I can control to a certain extent, like if I wake up briefly, I can actually go back to the dream after I fall asleep again.

I don't usually have recurring bad dreams, or at least none come to mind. I remember as a child often seeing a pattern of dark shapes in my head at night that would scare the bejezzus out of me. But usually, when I stress out, I wake up and get mild insomnia. When I do have (non-recurring) bad dreams, they usually involve feelings of hopelessness or rejection.

Second dream..

That night I had a dream. A beautiful dusk landscape. We are floating in over the field, abutting the prison, that Leedog and Flagg popped out of. I dreamt I was as light as the ether, a floating. The shades and shadows of the people in my fife wrastled their way into my slumber, I dreamt that Leedog and Flagg had decided to return to prison ...Probably that's just as well. I don't mean to sound superior, and they're a swell couple guys, but ... maybe they weren't ready yet to come out into the world.

And then I dreamed on, into the future, to a Christmas mom in the Fable home ...Five three-year-olds in their pyjamas are opening presents around a tree as Fable and Mrs.Fable look on. Where Fable Jr. was opening a present from a kindly couple who preferred to remain unknown.

I saw Waverly, a few years later, still havin' no luck gettin' the cops to listen to his wild tales about me'n the monkey ...
Maybe he threw in one flirt too many , I don't know.

And still I dreamed on ... further into the future than I'd ever dreamed before... Watching Fable Jr.'s progress from afar ...
... Taking pride in his accomplishments as if he were our own ...... Wondering if he ever thought of us ..... and hoping that maybe we'd broadened his horizons a little, even if he couldn't remember just how they'd got broadened.

But still I hadn't dreamt nothin' about me'n the monkey.

Until the end ...

. . And this was cloudier 'cause it was years, years away.

... But I saw an old couple bein' visited by their children-and all their grandchildren too. And the old couple wasn't screwed up, and neither were their kids or their grandkids. And I don't know, you tell me. This whole dream, was it wishful thinking? Was I just fleein' reality, like I know I'm liable to do?

. . . But me'n the monkey, we can be good too ... And it seemed real. It seemed like us. And it seemed like well ... our home . . . If not Cuba, then a land, not too far away, where all parents are strong and wise and capable, and all children are happy and beloved.... I dunno, maybe it was Alabama.

The kind of dreams Fable and DW describes, are usually referred to as "stress dreams" in psychology, and those are very common when people have important deadlines or pressure to do well in academic or professional life. Sometimes they are even called "academician's dreams" since they are frequent among students.

I sometimes dream that I can't find my subjects. I'm in a hurry, the examination is starting, everybody is waiting and the subject is gone. I run around all over the place looking. A variation is that I'm late myself, and can't get to the lab in time. My bike breaks down, I try to get a taxi but my mobile phone isn't working, and then I get hold of a phone box but I can't find any coins etc. etc.
These dreams are not frequent though, usually my dreams are surrealistic and quite entertaining

I'm amazed at how you knew what I was thinking of! http://www.mpz.co.uk/cwm/cwm/cwm/cwm13.gif

Eh-hem... anyway, I've never had a stress dream as C Elegans described (most effectively I must add ). According to my friends and people that meet me for brief periods of time remark on how mellow and relaxed I am. Heh, you wouldn't think it from my posts now would you!!! MUAAA HA HA HA HA HA!

Eh-hem, back to the point... I find I dream of the future a lot. I often have a dream and within a period of time, I generally find that I've done this before. Deja vou all over again!

Hey C E, if there are stress dreams, and academic dreams.. How in the nine hells do you explain Weasel! What are his dreams filed under? Insane monkey madness? Well, I suppose when you take part on a forum like this, dreams like are bound to come about... Maybe it's something that hits when you hit 2000 or more posts....

my dreams are extremely odd, and, about half the time they make sense.

I also noticed they often have referances in what happened the day i was dreaming:

For example, I had to go into my mother's room, but TAK (anyone ever read desperation by stephen king?, great book) was in there. SO i equipped myself with a butcher knife i found, but as soon as i entered, he used the bg2 spell: power word: stun (which is a spell my sorcerer got tat day)

I dunno, it seemed like i was truly paralyzed with fear for a brief moment. then i woke up

i don't have a wife or anything, i'm only 15, i've noticed a lot of you are nearly twice my age.

The only dream that I have had that has recurred was where all my teeth fall out in quick succession (I keep putting my hand to my mouth to catch them!) during important conversations. The subject matter of the conversation varies, the result does not

Hmmm. Strange...

My dreams have only one thing in common:

They all end up with me and my dad fighting against a bunch of Pirates to protect my whole family...

No really they do.
