| | Burglar leaves his Facebook page on victim’s computer MARTINSBURG - The popular online social networking site Facebook helped lead to an alleged burglar's arrest after he stopped to check his account on the victim's computer, but forgot to log out before leaving the home with two diamond rings.
Jonathan G. Parker, 19, of Fort Loudoun, Pa., was arraigned Tuesday one count of felony daytime burglary.
According to court records, Deputy P.D. Ware of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department responded on Aug. 28 to the victim's home after she reported the burglary.
She told police that someone had broken into her home through a bedroom window.
There were open cabinets in her garage, and other signs of a burglar.
The victim later noticed that the intruder also used her computer to check his Facebook status, and his account was still open when she checked the computer.
The victim later noticed that she was missing two diamond rings from her dresser in the same room as her computer.
The two rings were worth more than $3,500, reports indicate.
During the investigation, a friend of the victim told her that he knew where Parker was staying, in the same area as the victim's house.
Police then went to the home and spoke with a friend of Parker's.
The man said Parker had stopped by his home occasionally, but he said the man didn't live there.
He also said that the night before the burglary, Parker asked him if he wanted to help break into the victim's home but he refused.
As of Tuesday evening, Parker remained in custody at the Eastern Regional Jail on $10,000 bail.
If convicted he faces one to 10 years in prison.
OK, I'm hardly condoning B&Es or anything... but if you are going to do something illegal, don't be stupid enough to get caught like this! This guy surely deserves a nomination for the Darwin Awards, even if he *is* still living.

Some people really never find their proper line of work, you know?

This is really, really, depressing.
Watch, just to make it more ridiculous and insane the burglar will probably sue Facebook for billions of dollars.
And win.

And win. | Unfortunately... I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. There was a case about ten years back in the city I live where a butcher became tired of thieves breaking into his shop via the roof. He started lying in wait, armed with a baseball bat...
You guessed it, said butcher ended up laying a beating on the next intruder... the intruder sued and won.
In situations where self defense is not at issue, I'm not advocating extreme bodily harm on burglars necessarily ... but you'd hope that the courts would consider mitigating factors in cases like this.

And win. | Smart kid. Went in for the diamonds and may just end up with the King's bounty. That is if he doesn't mind any jail terms dished out.

Sadly DW he cannot even be nominated for an honorable mention for a darwin award as he would either have to nearly die or lose the ability to procreate. Neither happened here. i am VERY depressed about your story concerning the butcher though. I suppose if a burglar "accidentally" fell off my balcony I would be responsible for his injury...sigh.
