| | | Curiousity makes me wonder... I noticed a sign on the fence to a park I walk by on my way home everyday. The sign reads "No hunting and no snowmobiling". For some reason, I randomly had the thought of deer standing at the fence and hunting the people playing in the park. This amused me as being ironic. It made me wonder something though.
All things considered, if you look at everything in an unbiased manner, humanity has essentially killed off species they didn't want around, killed enough of them to drive them off the land they wanted (I.E. Wolves), or enslave them for their own uses (I.E. chickens, cattle, horses, dogs, etc). I have been wondering how others would feel if for some reason, another species decided to liberate themselves, and take back what was theres before humanity took over.
If another species, or more than one, lets say a group of the larger predator species decided they'd had enough of humanity messing with their world and broke into houses all over and started slaughtering families, would you think it was unwarrented, and cruel? Or would you think it was justified?

I disagree. I went to one of the highschools that services the largest Native Reserve in North America (or so I've been told), and I tell you, the vast majority of the Native student population, as well as non-students about town, really showed very little to be admired or respected.
Edit: I refuse to feel guilt for something neither I nor my ancestors did.

| | Well it would, in my opinion, be very much justified (not to mention hilarious) if all the chickens in the world united to free themselves from the opression of humanity
Realistically, however, I don't think a lot of people would do much anything if something like that actually occurred, until a few people got mauled by vengeful cows... then it would be considered a horrid act of animal madness or somesuch and we'd start slaughtering them at which point some animal rights organisation would try to stop them which would lead to increased strife...
I need to stop thinking about it |

| | | What Aztar just said made me think of something.
Over here in Aus, being an island, we have plenty of beaches. Being an island in oceans, we have plenty of sharks. Sharks + Beaches = Chaos. For some insane reason, when a shark comes into beach, or is off the coast, and it kills or badly hurts someone, it is hunted down. If it is not found, they simply kill some other sharks. I think that humanity wouldn't batter an eyelid if it was considered genocide as the best option to save our own skins. |

| | | There's no sapien. It was just Homo Neanderthalis, and not responding to change, among other reasons (or theories, depending how you look at them) lead to their extinction. Of course, this is a quick rambling note while working, so I might have missed something or forgotten something...

| | I seem to recall about the Neaderthals that they actually were more intelligent than "us", but they weren't as ambitious and didn't have the instinct to form communities... thus, they reproduced at a slower rate than the Homo Sapiens... I might be wrong about that though. |

| | I've certainly seem programmes about the same idea - either physically or intellectually Neanderthals had bigger brains than Homo Sapiens. I can't remember the exact cause of their extinction, however, I recall something to do with their failure to migrate, or mis-migration as it were
On topic though, I think an expansionist pack of animals would perhaps be justified in the slaughter and conquest of human suburbs. However I would certainly see it as cruel and unaccetable. While I do care/sympathise with animals, I in no way think they have anywhere near the same right to life as humans. I was a bit astounded with the strong views many members expressed in the thread about cats abused - some that the abusing humans should be jailed for it etc. While there should be punishments for those that purposefully mistreat animals, they should not be to the same degree of things such as child abuse.
Humanity reached the top of the food chain, and arguably abused its power - and is continuing to do so in seemingly less barbaric ways. Thats how it goes. I don't like the fact that as a species we've killed of those we didn't like (human and non-human) - that doesn't mean I'd sit back uncaring when a group of angry squirrels decide to molest a few human housing estates.

| | Animals are only animals, they can't think as we humans. They just act upon their senses and that is what gives us the right to "use" animals to our own advantage(this may sound horrible but don't take it that way)to a certain point to entertaining purposes and yes testing too but I think they use mainly those lowlife creatures such as rats and other critters(can you honestly demand the tests to be done with humans or no testing at all, and animal activists I think they care more about animals than humans, which to me is absurd).
Of course I object molesting and torturing animals.Who can honestly tell if an animal is suffering even if it is in a gage, humans still feed them.
Pets are different case they enjoy being around humans because they are raised to be that way and we feed them too, waht more could an animal possibly want. If they wouldn't like it they would run away wouldn't they...
hypotethically speaking, if a predator race would appear I would fight back any means possible. It wouldn't be justified fo them to wipe out the human race. And if that was to happen I would give them a lot of credit for destroying the greatest race ever, which would make the predators superior.

| | | Tom Leherer has a view - sorry if this is frivolous
Cow with Guns
Fat and docile, big and dumb
They look so stupid, they aren't much fun
Cows aren't fun
They eat to grow, grow to die
Die to be et at the hamburger fry
Cows well done
Nobody thunk it, nobody knew
No one imagined the great cow guru
Cows are one
He hid in the forest, read books with great zeal
He loved Che Guevera, a revolutionary veal
Cow Tse Tongue
He spoke about justice, but nobody stirred
He felt like an outcast, alone in the herd
Cow doldrums
He mooed we must fight, escape or we'll die
Cows gathered around, cause the steaks were so high
Bad cow pun
But then he was captured, stuffed into a crate
Loaded onto a truck, where he rode to his fate
Cows are bummed
He was a scrawny calf, who looked rather woozy
No one suspected he was packing an Uzi
Cows with guns
They came with a needle to stick in his thigh
He kicked for the groin, he pissed in their eye
Cow well hung
Knocked over a tractor and ran for the door
Six gallons of gas flowed out on the floor
Run cows run!
He picked up a bullhorn and jumped up on the hay
We are free roving bovines, we run free today
We will fight for bovine freedom
And hold our large heads high
We will run free with the Buffalo, or die
Cows with guns
They crashed the gate in a great stampede
Tipped over a milk truck, torched all the feed
Cows have fun
Sixty police cars were piled in a heap
Covered in cow pies, covered up deep
Much cow dung
Black smoke rising, darkening the day
Twelve burning McDonalds, have it your way
We will fight for bovine freedom
And hold our large heads high
We will run free with the Buffalo, or die
Cows with guns
The President said "enough is enough
These uppity cattle, its time to get tough"
Cow dung flung
The newspapers gloated, folks sighed with relief
Tomorrow at noon, they would all be ground beef
Cows on buns
The cows were surrounded, they waited and prayed
They mooed their last moos,
they chewed their last hay
Cows out gunned
The order was given to turn cows to whoppers
Enforced by the might of ten thousand coppers
But on the horizon surrounding the shoppers
Came the deafening roar of chickens in choppers
We will fight for bovine freedom
And hold our large heads high
We will run free with the Buffalo, or die
Cows with guns |
