I'm curious as to the reactions of both sexes in regards to certain questions and requests. So, feel free to respond to the following question, or post your own to be commented on.

Last night, I got drunk off some cheap box wine with my new roommate and played some video games before Rachel got out of work. Those two were taking off for the weekend to see his (Josh) father today and were taking me back to the place I still live at to finish packing and what not. On the way, Josh, demanded we stop at McDonalds, so we did and he's now on the hood of the car as we pull up to the window, singing nonsense at the girl inside. I got out to pull him into the car so he wouldn't hurt himself because he's got about 2 liters of wine in him.

I get out of the car, start arguing with him, and the girl inside starts smirking at us, when I realize she must have caught what was on my shirt. I was very tempted to tell her to just come out drinking with us, her manager is a good friend of Rachel's and gave us all free food there on wednesday with her there. Here comes my curiousity on how males and females would react.

How would you react to some person asking you to go out and get drunk at their place and party?

Assume you've seen the person around, and it's someone you don't know, but you have someone you do know that knows them and trusts them. Also, it's simply "Would you like to come over, get drunk and party" not anything lewd or suggestive being directly said. Also, this "person" would be one of the opposite sex, or in the case of a homosexual, one of your own sex.

I'm curious as to if there's a difference in general responses between males and females with that one.

Pretty much if anyone asked me, I wouldn't go. Even if I was 21, I still wouldn't.
I hate alcohol. Smells bad, looks like urine, and overall, I won't drink it. I wouldn't drink it if my life depended on it.

I have always been *extremely* cautious in situations such situations. So it would depend on a lot of things, how well I knew the person who knew the other individual, the way the unknown individual comported themselves, and, ultimately, it would depend on what my gut feeling was telling me.

You wouldn't go altogether, or would go and not drink?

@DW, I believe that would be about how I would go about things. I've no reason to truly fear for my safety, but I tend to be quite...loud in voicing my opinions while drunk and if with people I don't get along with that could be bad.

I wouldn't go period. I don't ascociate with people who are incredibly drunk as the last time that happened, I had to call the cops on what they were doing.

Out of curiousity, Siberys, how old are you? You seem to hold much contempt for alcohol.

@Magrus, if I have no other plans for the night, I'd gladly accept. Bonus points if the alcohol is provided and the chick asking is hot.

Most probably yes. I've done so in the past. If I wouldn't, it would be more because I don't feel like partying at that moment than for any reason of trust. I've ended up in some fun parties this way (oh, and the sex of the asker doesn't matter really, only the promise of party).

Why, I did not expect that from you at all. Those nights do tend to be fun.

@Lestat, if I've heard good things of the person, or I get the impression I'd get along well with them, I'd go for it. If I'm not sure, I tend to get irritated by a lot of things the majority of people my age do so it might be a bad idea to just head out with a group of unknown people.

Well, for me it's more "I'll go, unless ... " than "I only go if ...", if you get what I mean. If I get bad vibes from the person or if there is some clear security risk, then it's a definite no. But then again, I've been in some entertainment starved situations where partying at someones place was the only relatively frequent risk-poor form of entertainment.

Since I never got drunk and hardly drank alcohol at all even as a teenager, and I never liked houseparties, I preferred clubs and bars, I would probably have declined regardless of the gender of the person who asked. If the question had been would I like to join to a club and dance, I'd gladly have gone with them if I had no other plans and nothing better to do - especially if the person asking was a hot straight guy and not too drunk.

@Lestat, yeah, there's very few people who would bother with trying something dangerous with me because of my size, and apparently I have a "scary appearance". However, as you put it some people give off "bad vibes" and I avoid that. Even if they aren't physically dangerous, you could end up in a crowd of people doing hardcore drugs or some weird situation, which I'm not into.

There's a difference between get together with people and drinking and what some "parties' consist of.

@Grimar, you crazy swedes and norwegians and what-not are a given.

@CE, you must have bars that are far different than those here. Nearly every bar I know of fits into the category of atmosphere for young people to go, get wasted and pick someone up for the night, OR for older people to go out and cheat on their spouse. I don't know of any just "hangouts" or "dance clubs" that are just that, and not a meat market so to speak.
