I guess where it relates to there being a rule against spamming in this forum.

Well we have outlined a bit of that in the sticky rules thread. It depends on individual situations, but this part of the forum is basically to avoid people spamming up the other game related forums.

Is there any way to get around the profanity filter when posting links ?

Eerhardt wasn't the only one who had problems with "c0cktail" websites and the like....

Not that i am aware, it seems to change the URL as well.
