| | | Depends. When I'm cold after a rain or something, or in the winter, I'll have tea, from the sack...
But my thing is to open a can of ready iced tea and dont worry about the rest. |

| | In addition to home-brewed ice tea, one of the nicest beverages you can prepare if you want something bubbly is to combine real, unsweetened fruit juices with carbonated spring or mineral water.
Tasty, refreshing, naturally low cal (don't even get me started on diet pop..ugh!) and not cloyingly sweet!

I mostly drink water with a lime or lemon or both squeezed into it, but sometimes I add other fruits such as strawberries, grapes, or mangos. (Apples have a way of making me feel more thirsty instead of quenching my thirst.) I enjoy iced tea, but I rarely drink anything fancier than Lipton (orange pekoe and pekoe cut black tea). I also do a lot of "juicing", but that's getting more into the "food" category than the "drink" category from a dietary standpoint. My last "smoothie" contained (let's see...) carrots, beets, tomatoes, spinach, celery, and cilantro. A friend of mine recently talked me into trying kale smoothies, but my stomach hasn't adjusted to them yet (it takes about a month of drinking them every day), and I stay away from the grass-based drinks you might have heard about. In the winter, I enjoy homemade hot chocolate (very dark and bitter, but not as dark and bitter as coffee). I also drink beer and wine fairly regularly, but I haven't found a wine I really like this year (usually it's a Merlot), and everyone knows that American beers aren't that great, so my taste for beer is pretty limited (ZiegenBock and Bud Ice are my favorites). Margaritas are my favorite alcoholic drink. I'll drink ginger beer and chai if my friends offer it to me, but I don't like the commercial stuff that much. I guess that just about sums it up. Quote: |

I assume you've been to Prague or some other place where it isn't banned?
Edit: @dragon wench: I see you like the "natural" fruit-flavored drinks, too.

| | | A smoothie is basically a drink made with water and fruit in a blender. There are all sorts of variations from there. For example, some smoothies are frozen (like shakes), and others contain vegetables as well as fruits. In the end, the usage of the word will depend on how the people in marketing want to use it. |

Magrus i think its just not with coke. IF anybody takes anything that is in liquid form away from you they suffer alot | So true, anything that I can drink, eat, or spend. You take my food, i'll put a fork through the offending appendage. My drink I bruise you, my booze, I maim you. My money, well, there's those thing called contracts... Oh, girls too, whats mine is mine and you can look and talk to, but no touching. Touching my girl is very bad mojo.
I brew my own tea, go through about a gallon of it a day or so. It's my cheap drink and caffiene fix and I save about $50 a month drinking tea instead of soda.
As far as smoothies go, my friends parents are leaving town and I'll be making fruit/booze smoothies with her in about a week. Any suggestions for combinations?

| | | Re: Magrus It's not really fruit and booze, but now that it is spring outside, if you want to impress someone then make them a mojito. It is a cuban drink, like a mint julep, and it is amazing. I got this recipe from here:
Ingredients:
3 fresh mint sprigs
2 tsp sugar
3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 1/2 oz light rum
club soda
Instructions:
In a tall thin glass, crush part of the mint with a fork to coat the inside. Add the sugar and lemon juice and stir thoroughly. Top with ice. Add rum and mix. Top off with *chilled* club soda (or seltzer). Add a lemon slice and the remaining mint, and serve.
If you really want to impress, garnish with fresh mint and a slice of sugar cane.
I have a great margarita recipe as well. Hope this helps! |

| | Uh oh, reading that is inspiring me to go and buy a bottle of light rum
I do not, as a general rule, drink c0cktails, but Mojitos are a major exception.
I second Cuchulain, this is a serious 'must try'

| | | Enhancing smoothies with alcohol is a definate vice of mine. Rum and Vodka go pretty well with almost any combination of fruits and vegetables, though I try to avoid using vegetables in smoothies. They just don't end up tasting right.
I'm another one of those people that will maim you if you try to take food or alcohol from me. I've had friends grab a drink from me, get an evil look, and put it right back in my hand before any real damage could be done.
Oh, and what is with the female addiction to Diet Coke? I don't think it tastes anything like the real stuff, but I've noticed way more Diet Coke addicts than regular Coke or Pepsi addicts.
