Let's get back to the gifts! Anyone get anything good? This year was the usual for me except for one person, and not sure about that. This is my first Christmas with the man I'm dating...
He gave me:
-Civ III
-New car stereo/with CD player (It's shiny)
-Framed 'Us' Picture, with words 'Forever and Ever' engraved on it
-3 CD gift pack of the Simpsons complete first year
(for the stocking, I didn't know we were buying stocking presents for each other!)
-'Lord of the Rings' (all three books squished into one big book)
-A mountain of Christmas chocolates
-Juggling set (You should see how bad I am, but it's fun)
-State of the Art Yoyo (Another thing I'm bad at, maybe this is for the laughs?)
-A wine lovers gift set (with special foil cutter too!)
I gave him:
-Lord of the Rings, all four books. (You know, with the Hobbit)
*sigh* Normally I would like getting a lot of presents, but I feel that I've not given as much as I've gotten. *sigh*
Anyway, what did you guys get!? |

| A hug doesn't necesserily imply romance, more or less implies either friendship, or gratitude. In this case it is gratitute.

| I wasjoking my friend, you have nothing to be angry at, it was merely a jest in bad taste and I apologise.

Does "Hot Date" require House Party? Because it looks cool, but I'd hate to have to buy another expansion to get it.

| Hmmm..it might, as it's just another expansion pack, I'll read the back and check it out tonight.. I have Livin' Large, House Party and now Hot Date so it's not a problem for me.
Having just visited the Sims exchange, I still don't know the answer, but it looks like 'Hot Date' is not compatible with Windows XP (which I have) Grrr... http://thesims.ea.com/us/ |

| | Gaxx,
I've officially played Hot Date (It had a few problems with Windows XP, but that's what computer geek friends are for)
It's great fun (makes the game seem more fun when you don't have total control I think). I recommend it, but you may have to get house party too as they made me put that cd in when loading 'Hot Date'...
As a side note, I also played Civ III this weekend and between the two, Civ III wins hands down as a much higher entertainment value and game longevity. (The Sims tends to get old faster *shrug*)
Just wanted to drop a note |

| | | Hmmmm... this is a tough one. Me, I'd have to say it could be any of these.
1) Sony Playstation from 1997. Lots of good games for that, especially Final Fantasy VII. Still play that off and on to this day.
2) Transformers Season 2 Part 1 DVD set. Got that last Christmas, and have watched it almost more than anything. I just loved those robots in disguise from the '80s.
3) Various Metallica CDs & T-shirts from Xmas 2000.
4) Final Fantasy III for the Super Nintendo from Christmas of '93. Loved that game the most of all.
5) Transformers Powermaster Optimus Prime action figure (for the Christmas of '89, IIRC). Loved that figure for SO long.
Can't think of anything else that were major things for me. If I do, I'll edit them in. |

Are you giving us persission to SPAM the hell out this thread? | It's a relatively light topic, but it's not for, say, discussing one's voting habits, digestion, or the number of pearl studs on Prince Charles' shirts. This is a topic about the best holiday gift you've ever received.
I think the best I ever got (best holiday gift, you letches) was a book of short stories by a little known author which has been out of print for more than eighty years. I saw it once in a used bookstore, and like an idiot, hesitated to buy it because of the cost. When we came back two weeks later, and I had worked up the nerve to buy the thing, it was sold. A couple of months later, I opened a present from my wife, and found out that she was the one who had bought it. Sneaky, loving, loveable woman.

Can we spam the thread now? | Nah. I just merged the two threads. It's one of the seldom-used powers that Buck gives us moderators, such as blessing, blasting, and the ability to avoid election to any political office.
