For those of you unfamiliar with the initiative, it truely is something of wonder, and does loads of good for the gaming communities public image.
Having worked in hospitals with sick kids, and frankly adults, who have NOTHING to do all day except watch television they aren't really interested in and being generally miserable, I think Child's Play is a brilliant concept.
Basically getting toys, mostly videogames, into children's hosptitals. Hospitals are clean environments, and toys that can't be disinfected have to be thrown out. Gameboys, X-Box's and the like can be rubbed down with disinfectant and shared. So please, if there is a hospital in your area that is supporting the charity, drop something off, even if it is old and you are not using it.
I already PM'd Buck, and he is talking to the PA guys now about how we can help out as a community.
Here's the link. http://www.childsplaycharity.org/

I clicked on the link mentioned in the first post and on that site, I noticed two characters from Penny Arcade at the top of the navigation bar. Does this site, in any way, have any relations to Penny Arcade?
Just asking.

A. Unfortunately, we can’t donate used items directly to the hospitals. However, we’re a registered eBay Giving Works charity, you can sell items on eBay and have the proceeds benefit Child’s Play! | But the cause is good, so I give voth thumbs up!

Just asking. | I just searched for Penny Arcade, and indeed there is a relationship, check here, scroll down a bit and you'll see they make mention of it. Also if you check on the "contact" tab of the Child's Play page you'll find that the contact person has a penny arcade email.
I really don't know anything about Penny Arcade, though..

Shoestrings and drawstrings wouldn't do anything but amuse any on-lookers if I tried hurting myself with them. I would need some BIG shoestrings to get even fit around my neck, I've got a bull neck. They tried to take my cd's away, but I got angry. The head nurse tried to take a guys guitar away, saying he would hurt himself with the strings. Bad move to tell a zeppelin fan to remove the strings on his accoustic guitar. The guy said if he couldn't use it, then he wasn't letting anyone else coming near it. Nurse made a grab for it, and caught a guitar under his chin. It wasn't pretty, broken guitar and unconscious 400lb male nurse ALL over the floor.

And about Penny Arcade, it is a popular webcomic site that comments (and make jokes) on computer and videogames. I did read some of their comic strips, though not much since I very seldom visit that site.

Huge Penny Arcade guy here. Big Fan.
Childs Play started out with just an idea for the local Washington Hospitals. They got so many donations they had to rent a garage, then the garage got full. Last year they raised over 600,000 Dollars in charitable donations and this year their already over 490,000 bucks.
I remember tycho talking about how Gamers get a bad rap and he thinks they could get something together to show a different side, a better image than what those conservatives want everyone to think a gamer is.
They donate to the USA, England, Australia, Eygpt and Canadian children hospitals. I lied in the other thread saying I've never given to charity, I bought some kid in Washington a Gameboy advance. Wierd I forgot about that.
