Check this Chick out!

I knew that would get your attention.
The Evil thread on the D&D forum got me reading this website:
http://www.chick.com/
I think I read the whole site. I just don't get this guy. I even consider myself Christian, though not what most of the church would consider Christian.
Without bashing anyone, does anybody have any thoughts on this?

edit 2:
Oh golly! Who would have known? Despite me remembering this was posted before, I can't help myself.

I like how they put their message in the forms of comics, so that their ADD'ed audience can read them.
Imagine how big Christianity would be if The Bible was written like a comic book! It should also be renamed to something more catchy like Jeus Christ - Vampire Slayer!.

Hehe, he sure is popular among everybody.

Chick tracts have been brought up atleast once before. http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=27862

While I agree the man is an idiot I do think that his criticism of D&D is among his lesser sins.

I find it infinitely amusing that he places all his faith in the fundamental interpretation of the bible, but he denounces Catholocism. I wonder if he reliases that the bible was assembled by Catholics and Jews.

Just a little posting advice - but you do know you can use the edit button instead of posting twice in a row in a short timespace, right?

It has been posted before here at SYM as you saw in the thread Dottie linked to, and my first thought when I saw this site was that it was a joke, I thought it was a parody like the infamous Bonsai kitten or Canned human flesh sites.

Fundamentalism at this level is tragic

This is the position of practically all evangelicals. As you probably know, the principle reason for the Reformation was (what we now call) Protestants disagreement with the Catholics over how fundamental the Bible was to Christianity...Protestants tend to believe that the Bible is the only source of religious authority, while Catholics acknowledge the Church as a source also. So most all Biblical fundamentalists you come across will not respect Catholicism, as Church authority (including authority to interpret scripture in the form of papal doctrines) undermines the primacy of the Bible ITO.

'The Bible' is not one single document, and many versions exist. Although the Pope's (Orthodox) council did compile the first Christian Bible, this does not mean that 'The Bible' is a Catholic document. As you know a Lutheran Bible also exists (and many subsequent Protestant Bibles), which were re-compiled to distance scripture from Catholic doctrines. Luther left Deuteronomy, Hebrews, James' Gospel, Jude and Revelation out of the body of his compilation.

Also, one who believes that God can override the failings of his human scripture-authors, to produce a human-penned but God-breathed text will have no trouble believing that God can override any compilers to produce an Orthodox-compiled, but Protestant-God-revealing canon.
