Chattering Avatars

True friends stab you in the front. ~Oscar Wilde

What attribute do you value most in a fellow SYMster? Why?

*Strength (a superpower that can delete your post and strike you with the lightning)

*Constitution (a high post-count and ability to post while on the deathbed)

*Dexterity (ability to spam like crazy and/or adroitly dodge all questions)

*Intelligence (ability to think and recognize that “They” might possess this ability as well)

*Wisdom (ability to respect a different view and realize that one is a mere mortal)

*Charisma (ability to flirt and/or entertain without being excessively obnoxious)

*Other (please specify)

I'm not so much on the intelligence. I do think in logical ways and try to understand a lot of things, but I'm not very booksmart when it comes to posting in say, global warming debates. Hell, all I know about global warming is that it has something to do with cutting down tree's, and that might not even be true but it's all I know about the term itself. However, even without prior knowledge, I can get an understanding and feel for what the subject is about just by interacting about it.

Er... No comment

*Constitution (a high post-count and ability to post while on the deathbed)
I couldn't care less what somebody's post count is.. it's the actual quality of their commentary that interests me.

*Dexterity (ability to spam like crazy and/or adroitly dodge all questions)
Depends on the overall level of deft wit. Spam simply for the sake of spam bores me

*Intelligence (ability to think and recognize that “They” might possess this ability as well) Definitely!

*Wisdom (ability to respect a different view and realize that one is a mere mortal) Very much so!

*Charisma (ability to flirt and/or entertain without being excessively obnoxious) Can be amusing, as long as it's within the realms of reasonable taste.

*Other (please specify)
I really respect people who can back down and admit they are wrong. But, that probably falls into "wisdom"

But, in sum, I'd say it's between wisdom and intelligence... though, probably wisdom slightly edges out intelligence.

I'll answer this like DW did:

*Strength (a superpower that can delete your post and strike you with the lightning)
Hmm, this would attribute to the police force of Gamebanshee, the moderators. I do not look for a particular "Gamebanshee companion" who has power, but I am glad that they are some objective, smart people here who have power. Every now and then some advertising idiot comes along, trying to win people for his gold sprinkled piramides, but luckily he doesn't stay long. So I'm glad that there are some 18/00 folks around here, but I really don't care how much power the people have that I get along with.

*Constitution (a high post-count and ability to post while on the deathbed)
Well, as long as it are quality posts that they are posting, sure...

*Dexterity (ability to spam like crazy and/or adroitly dodge all questions)
*shudder*, especially the second part of that is very annoying. Though I must admit that I have definitely made myself guilty of the first...

*Intelligence (ability to think and recognize that “They” might possess this ability as well)
Sure, intelligence is welcome, and is basicly a good cure for an otherwise tragically moronic post. However, smart asses can be also really annoying. Being intelligent doesn't always mean that you are intelligent enough to handle your intelligence, if you know what I mean; it definitely doesn't always brings social skills with it as well.

*Wisdom (ability to respect a different view and realize that one is a mere mortal)
Ah yes, definitely important, I can really enjoy some good wisdoms. I have met people in life who weren't that intelligent and appeared, well, rather simple, but who did have some things to say that were really true and useful. Some life lessons, that really gave me something to think about. So yeah, since I really like to think about how to stand in life and how to handle it, I find wisdom an important attribute.

*Charisma (ability to flirt and/or entertain without being excessively obnoxious)
Hmmm, I find flirting over a forum a bit weird, but being to entertain is a very nice feature indeed! A good sense of great humour can really add colour to the post, and livens up the place in general. I don't know what I find more important, someone who is funny or someone who is wise, probably depends heavily if I'm in a serious mood or a more casual mood. But those two are definitely the two most important features, and are at their best when one person can handle both well. (doesn't have to be simultaneously, though, it's just nice when a person has two good sides)

That scheme pretty much covers the whole range of human faculties, doesn't it!

I suppose a combination of wisdom, charisma and constitution is to be treasured, that is the ability to write with both depth and elegance, yet with a certain vigour and persistance.

But what exactly do you mean by your definition of strength? I'm not sure I get it.

Depends on the situation, as no clear answer can be given without defining said situation.
When discussing topics - then Intelligence for my sake is the thing I value most, logical thinking. But it is difficult to utilize intelligence without wisdom so that is needed as well.

The remainder of situations properly requires "charisma" more so then most other things.

Apparently, you haven't a pleasure of having your friendly neighborhood moderator PM you... yet.

OK, so far:

Siberys -- Wis
DW -- Wis + Int
AmpaSand -- Char + Int
NaffNuff -- Wis + Char + Con
Xandax -- Int + Wis + Char

AmazingOopah, excellent analysis! Now, will you please choose your favorite combo?
