Charlton Heston RIP

Charlton Heston has died, 84 years old, after a long and quite public struggle with Alzheimer. With this, another legend from the golden age of Hollywood passes away.
During the last ten years the media frenzy over Heston's manipulated position as a retarded spokesperson for American gun-worship and right wing rhetoric has marginalized his input as a great actor and a vocal Civil Rights activist. Belonging to another day and age, the world just passed him by.

Never did see him as a great actor myself though. Found him trite at best.
But I agree that the controversy about him, NRA et al, have overshadowed his "acting" abilities.

Oh, and didn't he live to 84 - at least according to the media I've seen this reported on.

That is sad news. He was my favorite over-actor. (I mean that in a fond way.)

He was, wasn't he? Damn, he made some great movies.

@Xan, you're right. Printing error by a Norwegian newspaper.

The one thing i will always admire Heston for... not his acting or civil rights stuff.... but that he was able and had a long and happy marriage in the Hollywood world. He married his wife, Lydia, in 1944, that is a 64 yr long marriage. I just find that amazing.
You just dont see marriages like that anymore, especially in the Hollyworld world. To bad there arent more like that in the world.

info obtained at msn movie news
