| | cartoon shrine A friend and I figured it might be fun to create a shrine in which to pay homage to some of our favourite cartoonists...
I am quite fond of these http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de...colour/god.jpg http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de...ur/madonna.jpg

| | My favorite, and still the strangest, most surrealistic and poetic cartoon strip that ever ran, Krazy Kat, with its intellectual, scoffing mouse always braining its love-possessed cat: http://www.toonopedia.com/krazy.jpg http://retrograde.net/kat/10apr43.gif
Herriman had a tremendous impact on Berke Breathed, the creator of Bloom County (who paid him tribute several times). About a decade ago, more than 4,000 examples of Herriman's Krazy Kat strips in multiple languages were purchased from a single collection for display and storage at the National Museum of Art. Hubba-hubba.

Is there any chance you've come across this Krazy Kat strip? I must have read it sometime in the late 70's but it has been stuck in my head all these years and I'd like to know if there's any way I can track that particular strip down.
Krazy Kat and Ignatz mouse are running around yet another Daliesque open field at night and stop to admire a meteor shower. They watch the display of falling stars and Ignatz says something like "Isn't it amazing?" then Krazy, idiotic optimist that she is says something my prepubescent mind thought utterly profound-- Krazy says, "It's them that don't fall that are the miracle."
@dragon wench
It takes a superbly twisted mind to appreciate The Far Side.

| | Well the only comic that I REALLY like, is Garfield...that is from NON-online comics. Absolute classic he is. 25 years strong, and I still laugh everyday. Thank you Garfield. People say that its good to laugh at least once per day, and a few days in my life Garfield was the only thing to get me to laugh on certain days.
And we are talking ha-ha comic, not X-man comic here.
As far as online comics are concerned, theres Kayless' DCI, as everyone surely knows by now, and CtrlAltDel is also very well done, and the artist hails from MA, wahey!

| | The only thing I don't like about Foghorn is that his character was literally stolen straight out of a radio show that was enormously popular in the 1930's and 40's: the Fred Allen Show, where he was known as Senator Claghorn. I give higher points to original figures.
