ROFLMGDAO........

Man...I hate to be laughing so hard..I love GWB.I really do. He is my president, and I am proud of him. I support him in what he is trying to do..but these are funny...I especially like hearing that "Men and fish can co-exist"...LOL.....

Really though..he does pretty good for a guy who had a severe speech impediment and was a horrible stutterer as a child...he also stammers..don't cut the dude short though...he is sharp as a whip, and knows what he wants to say, even if he can't get it out.....

If I recall, Moses had the same problem.....

it wasn't untill Charlton Heston came along, that he found the gift of gab

Anybody can make numerous flubs in office, particularly when they're always appearing in front of people and having their comments recorded. But it takes a very special person, a truly remarkable individual, to have a brain that actually thinks in flubs, and gives evidence of no understanding of the issues discussed. I'm afraid Bush, however much I dislike him, is not such a man. That distinction belongs to--

Dan Quayle.

GWB is constantly being made fun of. Sometimes with good reason, sometimes without. I agree he has his limitations. I'm not a native English speaker but I definitely know there is no such word as "nucular".
But an intellectual doesn't necessarily makes a good president. No American president was more villified and ridiculed then Ronald ReagAn. But I'm glad he came around. History may show him to be the greatest post-war president.
Initially I wasn't very impressed by Bush. I was just grateful Gore didn't make it. But since september 11th he has been rising to the occasion.
He's no Ronald Reagan yet, but maybe he will be.

And, from the other side, I think history will recognize him as a very bad president, but lets not get into that. To each their own.

Nice list.

"For a century and a half now, America and Japan have formed one of the great and enduring alliances of modern times."—Tokyo, Japan, Feb. 18, 2002 ."

The rewriting of history by politicians and media ideologues is very dangerous, and all too present. This is what I meant in another thread when I referred to the war that powerful people constantly wage to control ideas. I can still recall Reagan's national speech justifying the invasion of Vietnam with a version of history that didn't bear the slightest resemblance to fact. Then, there was Edmund Muskie, a longtime Democratic senator from Maine who ran for VP in 1968 and President (briefly) in 1972. He once gave an important speech claiming that the American Revolution was a completely "peaceful" one.

I guess I, too, see a big difference between innocent slip-ups - which our current President seems to be full of - and more calculated idiocies. Personally, one of the most frightening things I have ever witnessed (mind you, I wasn't around for Nixon) was from good old Bubba: "It depends on what your definition of 'is' is." That is so deeply, philosophically, troubling that I get goosbumps thinking of that man with his hand on the button.
