I found this a refreshing idea: a liberal Jew who sets about finally reading the book his religion based and blogging about it. I especially like the perspective since it is from a moderate believer (so a bit in between the usual anti and pro rants) and relatively free of an agenda...

9:9-17. God announces His first covenant with man, that He will never again destroy the earth with a flood. He doesn't rule out other catastrophes. (God, apparently, is the opposite of an insurance company. He offers flood protection, but no other coverage.)

The thing is, this specific quote has called my attention. Really. its one of the best quotes there, and it shows how the bible can be misleading... well that's my opinion. Last time I've discussed the bible I was thrown into a discussion regarding the powers of the holy spirit and how were humans suddenly *aware* that god gave them the powers of evangelization.

I must have missed 8:20, but some of the other things he said were interesting and funny. And speaking of misinterpreting the Bible, I've heard that the bit involving Lot's family was also misinterpreted and didn't mean the mob wanted to rape the male angels at all.

It's interesting to read, though, the way he's interpreting it.
