That sketch! I've seen it before! Zombie leprechauns are coming I tell ya! Run for your lives. The gold is only a bait to lure in people with the specific kinda brains the zombie leprechauns consider a delicacy. If you listen real carefully at night, you can hear them feasting on said delicacies whilst playing on a set of bagpipes. Seriously.

And here I was... thinking that the pot of gold was a lure that would transport unsuspecting Mobilians up to the mothership... where they'd be the subjects of alien probing...
My theory sounds positively benign in comparison to yours..
