Does C Elegans have competition? Probably not. But this is some fascinating stuff, IMO. Using the programming of the lamprey to motivate a robot! Yowza - that is serious engineering!
Not everyone is so sanguine. I orginally found the article about the robot here, which was a follow-up post to one of the few posts I have ever read on the 'net which really did have me ROTFLMAO. (Oh - watch the language on the other end of that link.)
Me, I can hardly wait until we start playing around with genetics and cybernetics until the point where we can make even a 700 year old monk like myself writhe like some underwater eel! Gimme the shot, doc, I'm goin' clubbin' tonight! Ha!
