Just letting everyone know, do to the work of a Mister Buck Satan, my old handle of Obsidian has been restored, no more of this ObsidianReturns stuff. That alias is dead.
So those of you from the older days, I'm back, and those from the newer days, it's still me.
And if anyone's got a good picture of obsidian (the rock) I'd be appreciative of the link.
Happy new year.

Congrats, Obsidian. It just wasn't the same without your black, glassy stare. Welcome, er, back.

I've got some obsidian, but I haven't taken a picture of it yet. I could try and take a picture of it and post it when I have the chance.

Jean, why don't you start up a new thread, and introduce yourself? I'm sure that would earth you.

@fable: It's interesting to note though that Jean here is not a newbie. He is even "older" than me!

Horrible, I thought this was going to be a thread about an AC/DC tune..., nice choice on the name though. I've always liked obsidian best out of any other rock/mineral out there.

Congrats on getting back the old name
If you like polished obsidian spheres this might work: http://www.bovagems.com/eclectic/HTM...OBSID9901.html

If I get the chance, I might be able to post a picture of it.

heh, I'm glad to see such a out pouring of support at my return to my old name.
ObsidianReturns was cool, but seriously, I had dibs on Obsidian.
Thanks for the great shots, anyone know how to size them down into a GB acceptable form?

...and no, it's not about you, COMMrade.
As for sizing, try some resizing using programs like ACDsee(?).
Actually I forgot the name of the program I used before. I just clicked on the pic file and edited from there.

I used to be able to resize images just using Paint, but I can't recall now how it is done
I know you begin by rightclicking on an image and hitting "edit," which should automatically bring up Paint. From there, just play around with it, the help menu is fairly useful too.

Hmmm. I wish I had a picture of a lovely snowflake obsidian dart point that was found on one of my digs in Utah - truely amazing. I suppose I could always direct you to a published article I wrote on some XRF sourcing of a prehistoric obsidian raw materials source I once found.... Nah. No pretty pictures!
