Just quickly too say I left Liberia for the colder clime (but bloody nearly as wet) of Belgium.

I'll be on only in short bursts since I have to rely on friends or cybercafés (at 0.5 €/15 minutes ) to hook up . At least the connections are fast and reliable.

Nothing much for the rest exept for the fact that we risked missing our plane because some extremely bad practical joke by our colleagues (they said that the road to airport had been blocked by UNMIL soldiers because of the transfer of Charles Taylor). But we got there, and just in time to be (a long distance=half a mile) witness of a moment of some historical importance: the transfer of Charles Taylor to UN custody, serves the bastard right.

Good to hear you arrived back home safely!

Will your visits here *only* be sporadic because of internet access, or will it also be because you've taken up residence in a local bar?

@ Darzog: I did that, and am doing it again (Yesterday Leffe, today Trappist Westmalle). And I had whole grain bread, with Nutella, and an inch thick steak, with fries done the right way, etc. *tears of happiness*

@ DW: the cybercafé where I go is a real café, i.e. they serve beer... so combinations are possible

@Fiona,
what's wrong with nutella? Health conscious as I tend to be... that is one of my serious weaknesses...

@Lestat,
Alas! Were only the cafes on this side of the pond as civilised.. *sigh*

Here.. well.. they serve coffee.. And given that I seem to be giving up (or greatly reducing) coffee, I think beer and wine would be far more preferable.

Hmmm...
I like Gouda with good jam, I've never had it with nutella though.
Not a combination I'd naturally gravitate to, but I'll try most things at least once

Sorry Lestat. I really know about cheese. And young gouda does NOT qualify. Oude Gouda doesn't either, if truth be told. But what marketing

Oh, I admit it your run of the mill put a slice on a slice of bread typ of cheese for the likes of a Club Sandwich or so,... but the combination with nutella is reallllllly goud eh good. The combined tast is something unique.

I accept you have to do something to nutella to pretend it is food. And I accept gouda and edam have little merit to point to in their own defence.But frankly, two wrongs do not make a right, to coin a phrase. I will give you "unique". I wil not give you good. And this comes from a Scottish person. You are at the fork now: dismiss me as a Scot; or worry
