What happened? I tell you what happened!
Yesterday I put my alarm clock on the right channel, at a high enough volume and set it on the right time to go off. That time was 5.30 AM (today), because I wanted to get the early train to my college city. It was my first exam of year and with that my new study. I started at 9 AM and I really did not want to be late. Reason number one because, judging from last years study, I needed all the time that was at my disposal. Reason number two, was that I had no idea where the exam building was located at and I figured I would need some time finding it.
Anyway, this morning I woke up, but not thanks to the alarm clock! The stupid thing apparently refused to go off, and there I was, climbing out of bed at 6 AM. I rushed like hell, but did not make it out of my house before 6.30 AM, so I missed that train. "No biggie," I thought at that moment. "If I get the train from 7 AM, I still make it in time." So I took the bicycle to the station and waited for the train.
7 AM, no train, 7.05, no train and I started cursing public transport. Just when I did that, the speakers sounded: "dear travellers, the train has a delay for thirty minutes." This did not bring me joy in the least, because this meant, that I would miss the connection to another train - I have to change trains to get to college. I rushed home, arranged to be brought to the other station, hoping I would make it to the train there in time. But nohoo, every traffic light was red when we neared it, so I missed that one too. This meant that I had to take the train leaving at 8 AM. Since the train travels for about an hour, I would be at least 20 minutes late at my exam.
Well, I got to my college city at 9 AM, and near the exam complex at 9.25. However, when I was in the train, I asked how much I could be late, if I still wanted to be allowed in the class. “Thirty minutes tops,” the answer was. This time I started cursing at my alarm clock. I would do god-know-what to the thing if I wouldn't be able to make the exam. Everything depended on a few minutes. The prospect of having studied and travelled for naught made my irritation level rise. Not such a good start for an exam, even I would make it. I found the exam room at exactly 9.29 (yes, I probably checked my watch every minute). HOWEVER, I really needed to go. Yes, go-go, as in; nature’s call. So I opened the door at 9.32 AM. Some woman came to me, asking what I wanted to do.
“Make the exam,” I responded.
“You’re a bit late, aren’t you?”
“Please don’t get me started madam…”
So she smiled, gave me the papers and let me make the exam, without too much problems. Thirty minutes later I was almost halfway. With still more than ninety minutes to go, another guy suddenly came walking in. He was more than an hour late and was also allowed to make the exam. “Well, that’s good to know now,” I thought.
In the end, I finished the exam thirty minutes before time, without too much problems.
