Alberto Sordi dies at 82

Maybe unknown out of Italy, but here the news have a single headline today..
For once, the loss is really felt and not just acted.

He was the icon of the poor and troubled Italy after WWII, and more.
His 190 movies (comedies) portrayed the average italian, with all of his flaws,
simple dreams and spare qualities.
They all say "he was one of us" and I think it's true.
Nicest person, always lovable in the interviews, he naturally inspired sympathy.
His movies are legendary, funny but somehow sad and realistic.
Too bad we won't see more

I am not familiar with Sordi or his work, but I am familiar with the feeling of loss when a beloved artist dies. That there will never be an increase to the works he has accomplished, that while the art is immortal, the artist is not. ...My condolances to you and your countrymen.
