A Unique Catch...

'Fiancee' actually a man

Quote:
AN Egyptian man discovered on his wedding day that his fiancee of three years was a man who had been concealing his identity behind a veil...
I cracked up laughing when I heard this, though you have to feel sorry for the guy... I'm just surprised he wouldn't have found out, surely something could have given it away.

Hehe. Good story.

I'm surprised the 'husband' took that long to notice...

Try not to sound so envious Phreddie....

On topic, and on a more serious note.. I find the story really sad...

Yes, that seems like a pretty cruel thing to do. Though if the egyptians really loved each other before their genders were revealed, I might question the cruelty of it. I can picture a man falling in love with another man and masquerade as a woman in an attempt to show the other that they could still love one another. Although... I'm not exactly sure about marriage practices in Egypt. Arrangements might put a few twists in there.

*shakes my head* It's kind of sad really. I know I'm more attracted to a persons personality and mind than anything else, so I can understand how that would happen. Yet, I really think the practice of keeping your significant other from seeing you when you are together in person is shady, regardless of the reasonings.

Realistically, no matter how often you talk to a person, you still need to know them beyond talking to really get things to work, at least in my experiences. Body language, and the senses of sight and touch come into play very much so in a relationship. To cut out such things to me is beyond silly in any serious relationship. Honesty, communication and being open with each other is very, very important for a marriage/long-term relationship. Something so simple as a persons gender being kept from me in that kind of situation is a huge thing.

Then again, I find it rather amusing consider my personal beliefs of how everything works. It's quite ironic, two people falling in love, and one's belief system being shocked by the fact that he's fallen for another he, which is something he would never had bothered to explore given that he knew it was a male and not a female.

Oh, I know it's sad for the 'husband', however it just shows how blinding 'love' can be. And even if they do recover, hopefully they will end up great friends, or, if the person does have the operation, then perhaps it could work out...

Certainly a strange story though... which is why I thought it would feel at home here .

Ya know, I dont know what to say really. I can understand the whole thing with sex after marige. But sometimes its good to, "evaluate the goods" so to speak. Of course, this is all up to personal opinion right? Still kinda freaks me out that it happened, and I dont doubt that it could happen to anyone.

Which one?

On a serious note, could the... disguised party, be charged with fraud if he recieved gifts and money through the relationships, knowing that he would get neither if he revealed his sex to his... boyfriend?
