11 more days, folks!

In 11 more days, Tolkien comes to the silver screen, purist interpretations and literary violation charges notwithstanding.

I can't wait! It resonates with the words "Blockbuster."

I kind of feel this message board is the true Ground Zero for "Fellowship." I found my way to GB because of my interest in BG2, and who can deny Tolkien's influence in the creation of the D&D franchise from which the BG2 derives its origin? Anyway, I'm sure we'll come up with our own reviews post 12-19, but I'm confident the general tone will be one of praise, satisfaction, and relief.

Oh Man, can't wait. I'm dying to see it. Rivendill and Hobbiton look amazing. They haven't shown what Minas Tirith is too look like in the trailers.
Wood fits Frodo's part perfectly, atleast in appearence. The others look like what most of us must have imagined.

Yeah - me to, Tolkien all around
I've never even read the book(s)

But I guess I'll wait some time, then get it cheap on DVD and watch it then (if I can live so long in suspence )

ALready have my ticket bought and ready.
15 of my friends and me.
Sad thing is only 2 of us have read the book.
The rest want to see it first and then maybe give the book a try.
But 6 of them say they loved Potter so they might as well try Tolkien.
Annoys the hell out of me them comparing potter to tolkien!

Same here, but I think that ultimately the hype generated by Potter will affect Fellowship in a positive way. "Potter" might serve as an unintended but nonetheless timely "Hobbit"-like introduction to the fantasy milieu into which LotR is fully steeped, compelling those initially turned off by fantasy to go see Frodo because of their recent experience with Potter.

I wasn't too convinced about Wood at first, but I've seen a few clips now and I think he will be good. You're right though, the rest of the casting is spot-on, especially Viggo Mortensen, IMO he is perfect for Aragorn.

Can't wait!

Does anyone know if movie theaters give away their posters? Like the large ones inside, that could reach from ceiling to floor in my room? Or how 'bout the ones outside, that I can put on my roof for planes to read? Do they give them away?

I can't wait. I read a Newsweek review of LOTR today by a writer who never read the book in the first place. The review is largely positive, so I reckon the movie should be very good.

In the trailer, Arwen is sort of portrayed as a warrior princess, and she says only one thing, "If you want him, come and get him" or something of that sort. Can you guys imagine Arwen as a warrior princess? I can't.

Also, many of my friends who read LOTR said that Aragorn looked too old and rugged in the movie. I keep telling them that rangers are weather-worn and supposed to look haggard and beaten. They just won't understand.

Who do you think it's going to make more money at the box office? LOTR or HP?

If you're in the right place at the right time talking to the right person, yes At least, they have been known to, when they don't need them anymore - after all, they don't have any further use for them. Really depends how much your local cinema likes you Our student cinema had a Saving Private Ryan standee for a while, that we got from the local Odeon

LotR. Ok, so HP has a dedicated fan base... but nowhere near as much as LotR. The hype is immense.

Plus it'll make more in the "opening weekend" because they're cheating and releasing it on a Wednesday, so they get two more days
