There's a lot of hype in Vancouver now about the 2010 winter olympics and our bid to have them here. I'm curious, where do you think the Winter Olympics should be?

Id say Sweden, Norway, or Finland...any place in Scandanavia...they do well in winter olympics, there are fans up there, and they deserve more events to be held up there.

Unlike DW, my fellow Soviet Canuckistanian, Vancouver all the way. Nothing like beating the Americans again in Hockey, only on our home ice

My reasons for not supporting the Vancouver Olympic bid are as follows:
*Many of the events will actually be held at Whistler. Whistler Village is bordered by ecologically sensitive areas and IMO, regardless of the assurances presented by the "Yes" side, I am sceptical that enviromental considerations will be taken into account.
*Premier Gordon Campbell and his band of henchmen have, in the short time they have been in government, made massive cuts into health and education spending. Yet, they apparently have the funds to spend on the Olympics....
* Vancouver real estate prices have already spiralled far out of control. I have little doubt that a successful bid will make matters even worse.

Salzburg - then I'd at least be able to see them local time!

It'll be in South Africa. That's the trend these days.

We have....winter...Olympics....!
If we can't beat the British in any of those sports then there really isn't any need for us to pay attention to it all then.
Beldin would most likely love to see the winter olympics in Austria, so they have my vote.

These people seem to revel in ice, cold and snow - give 'em what they want and hold the games in Antarctica....at night. http://sigup.com/sigs/Pharaoh4.gif | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode
