Disclaimer: This is supposed to be written by Luis Fernando Veríssimo but I have no idea if it has been done by him. Received by mail.

1 - Someone that is good with you, but mean with the waiter, cant be a good person. (this is very important. Pay attention, it never fails.

2 - The people who want to share their religious visions with you, almost never want you to share yours with them.

3 - Nobody cares if you dont know how to dance. Stand up and dance.

4 - The most destructive power in the universe is gossip.

5 - Never mix up your carrer with your life.

6 -Never, under any circumstances, have a sleeping pill and a laxative at the same night.

7 - If you had to identify, in a word, the reason why human race hasnt reached (and will never reach) all its pottential, this word would be "appointments".

8 - There is a very thin line between "hobby" and "mental illness".

9 - Your true friends love you anyway.

10 - Never be afraid of trying something new. Remeber that a solitary rookie built the arch. A whole group of professionals built Titanic.

--------------

So, whaddia think?

I've seen this float around through the net and chain letters before. But I usually see "meetings" in #7 instead of appointments.

I certainly don't know if it is really written by Luis Fernando Veríssimo or not - this kind of witty list of things are often incorrectly attributed to witty writers - Wilde and Voltaire haven't written or said 10% of all the quotes that are attributed to them.

In any case, I am personally not very fond witty, slogan-like sentences that are supposed to fathom some important insights or principles. I also don't agree with most of them. I like number 1 though.

@Darzog: I've translated it. Therefore it may be wrong And meetings also go ok with what I wanted to express.

@CE: #1 is my favourite too, in fact that's the biggest reason to the post.

This one is often quite true...

Depends on the waiter though...
And as far as five goes: uhhhh what is a life?

My version of nine: acquaintances you have "because of", friends you have "in spite of".

Nice one Luis.
Just one question: does being nice to the waitress because you want to sleep with them count?
No? Awww...

Feel good as in it feels good when you touch it, or it makes you feel good?

If it's the first one, I think this could:

5 - Never mix up your carrer with your life.

Or let it become your life, more like, but half the people in the field end up being consumed by it anyways... gotta love sleeping on the couch in the break room waiting for the experiment to end.
