I have a copy of Sacred Gold and overall I must say I was dissappointed with it. To me it struck me as a diablo copy but almost everything it tried to do seemed medicore or poorly executed. I uninstalled the game after a couple of hours and have not touched it since.

My major gripes were to do with travel, there was the choice of getting a horse, which caused all sorts of attacking problems and sometimes glitches. Travel between towns was majorly long winded and often involved running a gauntlet of monsters, sometimes resulting in death. Waypoints were FAR IN BETWEEN and I probably only found 3 that lead to no place useful.
Think of Diablo 2's waypoints, now imagine the only waypoints available were the ones for town, imagine doing any of the quests where one has to repeatedly run to each location... imagine doing it without townportals.
The lack of a town portal I think was the major glaring mistake, I often ran out of inventory or carry room and had to leave items on the ground, spend a sizeable couple of minutes running to town to sell then have to go running back, it was frankly ridiculous.

A good point was the size of it. The map is staggeringly huge and involves lots of side quests and dungeons. I also found the majority of quests basic find and retrieve, some of them were fun but most were quite boring. The good thing was that hundreds of them litter the landscape so there's always something to do, rewards were often quite good too.
The socketing and weapon upgrade system is very good ~ because it was possible to stick almost anything into a socket, scrolls, unwanted rings, amulets, gems or even the choice of generic upgrades from the blacksmith. It is very possible to quickly create an item that is fine tuned to a person's character and play style.
Skills were certainly interesting, some of which were quite good and the best part was creating "combos", certain npcs could combine spells and moves into single click macros. So with 1 click of a button one could execute up to 5(?) different spell casts in sucession, now unfortunately the downside was it was waaaaaaay too slow, seemingly making combos having no speed advantage. If they removed or reduced the cooldown between spells in combos then they would have been perfect, instead it was, cast spell 1.... 2 second wait... cast spell 2.... 2 second wait... cast spell 3... a character spends a long time sitting on the spot. I really wanted to see my character pull off a streetfighter combo where he'd execute a flurry of moves in a blink, but alas not so.

There were a few other things but yeah I highlighted a few major points, overall I would describe Sacred as a diablo 2 clone but with so much watering down that there's more water than content. If you're still curious, it's possible pick up a copy for single digit amounts, my gold edition DVD with expansion set me back $7 new.
