| | | Heretic Kingdoms I realize its a couple weeks away from a U.S. release, but its my understanding its been in Europe for a while. Has anyone had the opportunity to play Heretic Kingdoms: Inquisition? I've been reading some reviews that seem fairly favorable regarding it. I'd be curious to hear impression. Worth getting? Story driven or Hack and slash? The premise sounds really intriguing. |

| | There are a number of reviews you can access here, though frankly most of them I found immature, filled with factual errors of history, or unfamiliar with the array of RPGs even 5-10 years old. The overall impression I get is that it's a fairly rote but extremely pretty hack-n-slash along the lines (possibly) of Dungeon Siege, which I found extremely boring and very linear.

| | | I would *not* compare it to Dungeon Siege, it is more along the lines of a more smart Sacred, or a not as smart and smaller Divine Divinity. The heroine is smart and sassy, and the unique features are loads of fun and make for interesting role play. The worst part is the load-times, and occasionally response times in inventory. The story is simple and small in scope, but works pretty well.

| | | I never actually played Divine Divinity, Dungeon Siege or Sacred. Somewhere in the midst of other gaming, I missed those titles (I've played with the idea of picking up DD somewhere down the road, but the other two never appealed to me). So, more specific descriptions you could make, would be much appreciated.
Specifically, I'm curious as to whether the storyline and NPCs are engrossing, whether the linear nature of the storyline is ever bothersome, and whether there are side quests and cities to explore (i.e. perhaps a break from the hack and slash routine). From the reviews I've read, I can't really get a feel for these things. A game that inhibits your freedom I can stand, as long as the storyline and NPCs keep me interested.

| | I forgot to mention, but my review for it is online here.
I don't consider GamerDad a 'competitor' ... so I hope you don't mind the link - it is for information, not promotion. If there is a problem, obviously I'll remove it.

| | | If it's not a very long review, say, 500 words or less, you might put it up here. Assuming you haven't signed an author's agreement turning over ownership of the review to the site. But it's up to you. I look forward to reading it, in any case.
