What the heck are the Stone Heads (Idolons) I keep finding in the treasure in the first dungeon for?

you feed them to a giant stone head in the city heights and it spits out rings. some are useful, some aren't.

I assume the giant stone head you mentioned is after the dungeon. So I collect all these stone heads until I complete the dungeon and then use them in the city.

yes, it's when you reach the city heights after exiting the dungeons. it's southwest of the town square.
