stashing items in chests

Picked up the game recently and decided to give it a try. So far, so good. Still in the main halls but I've run into a minor problem. I've emptied the chest in the first room of the main hall and now I can't figure out how to store items in it. The only options available to me are to open/close or smash it. If the means to put items back in the chest is in the manual, I'm not seeing it. So if anyone knows of a way, I'd appreciate the sharing of that wisdom. thanks.

Also, hiding doesn't seem to be a skill one activates. Is it 'on' all the time, if you're in 'walk' mode.

Unfortunatly skills are very limited in usefullnees and many dont work, such as hide.

Stashing items back in chests should work you simply need to close the lid of the chest and re open it, and the chest inventory should pop up again and you will be able to store things back in them.

But the inventory doesn't come up again. Just the DM notes that says, "The chest is empty."

That's what I thought. Guess I'll have to find somewhere else to store items. thanks.

Unhappy

there are plenty of chests later on you can stash things in, i liked the one next to the ruined tower in stillwater, as I went there troughout the game

I didn't actually try this, I didn't mean to write it in the past tense implying I did it, I should have said if I were to do this, I would use that chest
my bad

Just pulled this off the readme

8. Bodies, treasure, and dropped items are removed after a level transition; bear this in mind when deciding what to leave behind and what to keep.

It doesn't clarify whether they mean levelling up or loading a new area-I only tried stuffing a chest once and everything was gone when I came back to it. I definitely went into a new area, but I may have also levelled up-tho I don't think so.

It was definitely NOT changed in the 1.2 or 1.4 patches, but I couldn't find anything about the 1.3 fixes so maybe it was there, if at all. If not I imagine that the Cheat used chests to hold things to keep movement speed up but emptied them when he went to a new level.

I don't believe they clear after a level change it is the area change, and that thief Nottle comes and steals it. I left my Miners Sledge along with alot of other stuff in a chest by the Malghi Hi area. When I stopped by Nottles a little later to lighten the load, he had my Sledge!!! Little Punk!!
