Shopping in Myth Drannor

Having just started playing this game , I found it difficult to get into at first but wow has it grabbed me now. I have been playing this type of game since the old C64 and they keep getting better and better,(Of course there are exceptions!)
My question is: once I can get into myth Drannor from stillwater can I go and buy things or up grade weapons and such?

The whole sell/buy system of PoR:RoMD almost don't exists, there are a few merchants in game but they only sell a few basic things and by the time you get to visit them you will have better equipment.
