Prison Level Crash

Since I entered the prison level POR suddenly started to crash a LOT.
Now that my party has reached the south-east corner of the map it crashes the moment I come near this last room. (The one with all the magic going on in it)
I've installed patch v. 1.3. (And directX 8)
Anybody any idea what else can be done to avoid the (seemingly) inevitable crash?

I had the same problem, but my party sucked so I just started a new game. My solo Paladin/Monk was much better than my full party of 6.

A known bug - turn off all sound, that seems to help. Also, don't save the game anywhere near the spell effects. This helped in my case. Some people have done the re-load thing again and again, that sometimes works. Sticking to walls sometimes helps, as well. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, no luck yet, but I'll keep trying...
Maybe I just have to wait for Patch 1.4 -sigh-
